India are set to play their second match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 against the Netherlands on June 17 at Headingley. Their first match was against Pakistan, in which they secured an easy 64-run win.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. are on the hunt for their maiden T20I title. Their campaign has got off to a magnificent start in the 10th edition. Thanks to the brilliant innings by Smriti Mandhana (68) and Richa Ghosh (34 off 17 balls), India Women managed to reach a total of 170 runs in the first innings.
Meanwhile, in the second innings, it was all about the Indian spinners. Deepti Sharma took a 5-wicket haul, Sree Charani picked 3, while Shafali Verma had one to her name. Deepti was the Player of the Match.
The Women in Blue will aim to continue their form and win by a big margin against the Netherlands Women to be in a comfortable position on the points table.
India fielded three spinners and two medium pacers in the previous fixture, as per the pitch requirements. However, the pitch at Leeds could force them to make certain changes in their team for tonight.
Will India bring Yastika Bhatia for today’s match?
Yastika Bhatia was not picked for the first match against Pakistan on June 14. Jemimah was given the No. 3 spot, where she managed to score only a single run. India went ahead with Bharati Fulmali in the team at the finisher’s spot.
Yastika was a part of India’s playing 11 in the T20I series against England. She batted at No. 3 and scored 30+ in all three matches, including one half-century.
Moreover, even in the warm-up matches before the T20 World Cup, Yastika was in the team, batting at No. 4 and 3 in the two matches. She scored 36 and 15, respectively.
India might make changes to their batting line-up for the match against the Netherlands and field Yastika at No. 3. She bats well in the powerplay and has been steady in the middle overs. Jemimah, being an amazing player of spin, can bat at No. 4 to negotiate that aspect.
India already have brilliant finishers in Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma, and could look to stabilise their top order more with the inclusion of Yastika. Meanwhile, India might drop Bharati due to team combination.
When is India’s next match in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026?
India Women will play the Netherlands on June 17 at Headingley.
