Women's Asia Cup 2024: Sri Lanka to host marquee event, India to face Pakistan on July 21

India have been drawn in Group A along with Pakistan, Nepal and the UAE in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024.
The Asia Cricket Council (ACC) has announced that the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup 2024 will be hosted by Sri Lanka in Dambulla from July 19 to 28, in the T20 format. The marquee event will be an eight-team affair, featuring one extra side than the previous edition, with hosts Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. They will be joined by – UAE, Nepal, Thailand and Malaysia, who are the semi-finalists of the Women’s Premier Cup 2024.
The tournament will also feature all female referees and umpires, following the successful implementation of the same in the previous edition. Defending champions India have been drawn in Group A along with arch-rivals Pakistan, Nepal and the UAE. Group B features Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Only seven teams participated in the 2022 Asia Cup tournament.
Seven-time champions India will begin their Asia Cup 2024 campaign against the UAE on July 19 and then take on arch-rivals Pakistan before facing Nepal on July 23.
The top two sides from the groups will qualify for the semi-finals which will be played on July 26. The grand finale of the tournament will be played on July 28.
“We are excited to see the increased participation and competitiveness among the teams, reflecting the growing popularity and importance of women’s cricket. This expansion, from six teams in 2018 to seven in 2022, and now eight, is a testament to our commitment to the women’s game and the burgeoning talent pool in Asian cricket,” ACC president Jay Shah said of the tournament’s expansion.

2. Malaysia vs Thailand, Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh on July 20
3. Nepal vs UAE, India vs Pakistan on July 21
4. Sri Lanka vs Malaysia, Bangladesh vs Thailand on July 22
5. Pakistan vs UAE, India vs Nepal on July 23
6. Bangladesh vs Malaysia, Sri Lanka vs Thailand on July 24
