WPL 2024 auction: Dates, timings, venue, purse value, when and where to watch
WPL 2024 auction will take place on 9th December, 2023 in Mumbai.
The Inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League was a successful one and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is getting things done for the upcoming second season in 2024. WPL was a big success and attracted a large crowd of support. The BCCI on Saturday announced a list of 165 players who will go under the hammer in WPL 2024 auction. The WPL 2024 auction will take place on 9th December in Mumbai.
A total of 104 Indian players will go into the auction in Mumbai along with 61 overseas players including 15 players from associate nations. 50 Lakh rupees is kept as the highest reserve price in the auction. A total of 60 players were retained by the franchises. 5 teams take part in the league and Mumbai India are the defending champions of the Women’s Premier League inaugural season. MI defeated Delhi Capitals in the WPL final last year.
Gujarat Giants have the biggest salary cap available before heading to the auction. GG have 5.95 Crore rupees available and they will be looking for 10 slots to complete their squad. Mumbai Indians retained the core of their squad and they are left with only 5 slots and 2.10 crore rupees available in the purse. Deandra Dotting and Kim Garth are the only players slotted in the 50 Lakh bracket.
