WPL 2024 auction: Full list of players bought by UP Warriorz

UP Warriorz acquired services of five players in the WPL 2024 auction.

Lucknow-based franchise had a wonderful campaign in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League and finished at the third spot. UP Warriorz went on to play the elimination match against Mumbai India but couldn’t carry their momentum from the league round and had a heart-breaking loss but Alyssa Healy’s side made a great impact in the inaugural season.

Just like Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz also retained the core of their side. Warriorz were looking to fill in with some bits and pieces players in their camp and they got a few great buys in the WPL auction 2024. UP had 5 slots to fill in and they bought one overseas player, Danielle Wyatt, and four other Indian stars in the WPL auction 2024. 

UP Warriorz retained their core before the auction

UP Warriorz retained 13 of their players and they needed 5 players to fill in their remaining slots with one overseas member. They had a huge 4 crore rupees in their purse and used it wisely to get the balance of their squad correct. Alyssa Healy’s side won 4 out of their 8 league games and finished 3rd in the table with 8 points. They began well in season one and secured some close victories against Gujarat Giants and RCB. 

Tahilia McGrath was UP Warriorz’s leading run-scorer in the inaugural season. Tahilia Mcgrath scored 302 runs in 9 innings for Warriorz and finished the season as the 3rd leading run-scorer in the WPL 2023. McGrath scored 4 half-centuries. Sophie Ecclestone was the leading wicket-taker for the franchise as she took 16 wickets in 9 games Warriorz played. Ecclestone was also the 2nd leading wicket-taker of the WPL 2023.

Batters: Vrinda Dinesh (India), Danni Wyatt (England)

All-rounders: Poonam Khemnar (India), Saima Thakor (India)

Bowler: Gouher Sultana (India)
