WPL 2024 auction: Full list of players bought by Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians bought a total of five players in the WPL 2024 auction.
WPL defending Champions Mumbai Indians will be looking to continue their dominance in the Women’s Premier League second season as well. With a huge fanbase, Mumbai have been a star-studded side in the WPL and also made an impressive debut in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League earlier this year. MI’s WPL 2024 auction strategy was clear from the beginning as they were looking for players complementing their core.
Coming into the auction, Mumbai Indians needed to fill in 5 players for the upcoming season with one overseas member in the squad. MI retained 13 players from the previous season with 5 overseas players. Harmanpreet Kaur led side used 2.10 crore rupees wisely and bought South African all-rounder Shabnim Ismail and uncapped Indian players S Sajana, Amandeep Kaur, Fatime Jaffer and K Balakrishnan from the WPL 2024 auction in Mumbai.
MI dominated the WPL season one
Mumbai Indians entered the WPL 2024 auction with least amount in their purse among the all five teams. Talking about their performance in the last season, MI won 6 out of their 8 league games and finished second in the table. They outclassed UP Warriors in the Eliminator game and qualified for the final. MI defeated Delhi Capitals in the final played at Brabourne Cricket Stadium in Mumbai by 7 wickets to retain the maiden WPL title.
English all-rounder Nat-Sciver Brunt was the leading run-scorer for MI in the WPL season one and scored 332 runs in 10 innings. Her average was 66.40 and batted with a strike rate of 140.08 and scored 3 half-centuries. West Indies all-rounder Hayley Mathews was the leading wicket-taker for the franchise and picked up 16 wickets in 10 games for the franchise. MI had a wonderful inaugural season in the WPL.

All-rounders: Shabnim Ismail (South Africa) 1.20 Crore rupees, Sajeevan Sajana (India) 10 Lakh rupees
Bowlers: Amandeep Kaur (India) 10 Lakh rupees, Fatima Jaffer (India) 10 Lakh rupees
