A total of 19 players were sold at the WPL 2025 auction.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction, which precedes the third edition of the tournament, took place on December 15, 2024 in Bengaluru.

With a total of 19 spots to be filled, the five franchises made some strategic and smart inclusions to their squads. Indian talents made the most out of the auction, getting the majority of the total money spent during the event.

Four franchises—Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Gujarat Giants (GG)—each acquired four players, while UP Warriorz (UPW) made the fewest inclusions with three players.

On that note, let’s take a look at the top five most expensive buys from WPL 2025 auction.

WPL 2025 auction: Top five most expensive buys

5. N. Shree Charani (DC) – INR 55 lakhs

DC’s most expensive pick of the day came in the form of uncapped bowler N. Shree Charani. The two-time runners-up signed the 20-year-old left-arm spinner for INR 55 lakhs.

Charani was among the four players signed by the franchise along with Nandini Kashyap, Sarah Bryce and Niki Prasad. Delhi will look to finally win their maiden WPL trophy in WPL 2025.

4. Prema Rawat (RCB) – INR 1.20 crores

Prema Rawat came into the limelight after her phenomenal performances in Uttrakhand’s domestic T20 league. One of the emerging spin all-rounders in India, Prema was bought by RCB for INR 1.20 crores at the WPL 2025 auction.

Rawat was also the leading wicket-taker in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2023, picking up 16 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of just 5.55.

3. G. Kamalini (MI) – INR 1.60 crores

The most surprising pick of the auction came from Mumbai Indians, who signed 16-year-old G. Kamalini for a whopping amount of INR 1.60 crores.

Kamalini’s name sparked a bidding war between MI and DC, with MI ultimately securing the services of the talented young wicket-keeper batter from Tamil Nadu.

Kamalini was impressive in the Under-19 domestic tournament in October, scoring 311 runs in eight matches for Tamil Nadu. She then got a place in India’s squad in the Under-19 Asia Cup.

2. Deandra Dottin (GG) – INR 1.70 crores

West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin secured the second-largest pay cheque at the WPL 2025 auction. She was roped in by Gujarat Giants for INR 1.70 crores.

Deandra Dottin is one of the most experienced players in the world. The 33-year-old all-rounder has played over 133 WT20Is, scoring 2,869 runs at an average of 26.32. She has also taken 68 wickets in the format, maintaining an impressive economy rate of just 6.44.

1. Simran Shaikh (GG) – INR 1.90 crores

Mumbai all-rounder Simran Shaikh became the most expensive buy at the WPL 2025 auction, securing a deal worth INR 1.90 crores with the Gujarat Giants.

She was previously bought at her base price of INR 10 lakhs by UP Warriorz in the first WPL auction, but was released the following season due to her poor performance.

Simran will look to justify her hefty price tag in the WPL 2025 with stellar performances for the Gujarat franchise. She scored 176 runs in nine innings at the 2024 senior women’s T20 trophy at a strike rate of 100.
