WPL 2025: Head coaches of all 5 teams

The WPL 2025 will begin on February 14.
The third edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to get underway on February 14, 2025, with the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) meeting the Gujarat Giants (GG) in Vadodara.
The five-team tournament comprises 22 matches, including the final on March 15, which will be played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The competition will be played across four cities: Vadodara, Mumbai, Lucknow and Bengaluru.
Mumbai Indians (MI) won the inaugural edition of the WPL in 2023, while RCB clinched the trophy last year. Delhi Capitals (DC) were the runners-up both times.
In cricket, the captain often hogs the limelight but the role of a coach is also critical. The coach is responsible for making sound choices when it comes to strategy and tactics, and boost the morale of the players when things are not going as expected.
Let us see who are the coaches of the teams in WPL 2025.
WPL 2025: Head coaches of all five teams
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) – Luke Williams
Former South Australia batsman Luke Williams is RCB women’s coach for the WPL 2025. RCB’s coach in the first WPL season was Ben Sawyer, under whom they finished fourth out of five teams.
Sawyer was replaced by Williams ahead of the WPL 2024, where the Smriti Mandhana-led unit won the trophy. Williams will continue in the role this year.
Mumbai Indians (MI) – Charlotte Edwards
The legendary England batter Charlotte Edwards is the coach of the Mumbai Indians women’s team in the WPL.
Under coach Charlotte Edwards and captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai won the WPL 2023 title. In WPL 2024, they finished third in the points table in the league stage and lost the Eliminator to RCB.
Delhi Capitals (DC) – Jonathan Batty
Former Surrey captain Jonathan Batty has been the head coach of the Delhi Capitals women’s team in the WPL since the first edition in 2023 and will continue to don the role in WPL 2025 as well.
Under Batty, Delhi finished at the top of the points table in the league stage in two consecutive WPL seasons, but they lost in the final both times.
UP Warriorz (UPW) – Jon Lewis
Former England pacer Jon Lewis, who is also the head coach of the England Women’s team, has been the head coach of UP Warriorz since the inaugural WPL season and will continue for a third consecutive edition.
Under Lewis, UP Warriorz finished third in the league stage in WPL 2023 but lost to Mumbai in the Eliminator, and in WPL 2024, they finished fourth, failing to proceed to the next round.
Gujarat Giants (GG) – Michael Klinger
Australian domestic giant Michael Klinger was appointed the head coach of the Gujarat Giants ahead of the WPL 2024 season. He replaced Rachael Haynes in the role. However, the results for Gujarat remained the same.
In WPL 2023, GG won only two matches under Haynes and finished fifth. In WPL 2024, GG once again managed two wins and the fifth spot under Klinger. Gujarat management and owners have retained their faith in Klinger and he will continue in the position for WPL 2025.
