Gujarat Giants bought 16 players in WPL 2026 mega auction.

Women’s Premier League (WPL) mega auction 2026 witnessed 277 players battling for 73 available slots. The mega event was conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, November 27 in Delhi and saw total of 67 players getting sold.

Gujarat Giants (GG) bought a total of 16 players in WPL 2026 auction. Their costliest player was Sophie Devine for INR 2 crore, followed by Georgia Wareham at INR 1 crore. Bharti Fulmali and Kashvee Gautam were their costliest Indian players at INR 70 lakh and 65 lakh respectively. Renuka Singh and Yastika Bhatia were other prominent Indian players bought by the franchise.

Ahead of the auction, GG spent INR 6 crore out of their total salary cap of INR 15 crore for retentions, the least amount after UP Warriorz (INR 0.5 crore). Hence, they had INR 9 crore available in their purse for WPL 2026 auction. Each team can have a maximum of 18 players in their squad and, Giants had 16 vacant slots to be filled in the auction, out of which, there were four spots for overseas players.

The franchise parted ways with all of its Indian players ahead of the auction. They retained only two players in their side- Australia stalwarts Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney. While Gardner was retained for INR 3.50 crore, Mooney was offered Rs. 2.50 crores.

Each team was allowed to retain a maximum of five players in their squad ahead of the WPL 2026 auction. Since Giants retained only two players, they had five Right to Match cards available.
