The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Saturday, 29th November, announced the schedule of the upcoming season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The biggest showpiece event for women’s cricket in India will start from January 9, 2026, with its conclusion scheduled for February 5, a weekday.

The five WPL franchises are ready to chase the ultimate glory after adding revitalising their squads with new firepower in the recently-concluded WPL 2026 mega auction in the national capital.

BCCI announces Women's Premier League 2026 schedule

The carnival of women’s cricket will take flight on January 9, 2026. The league will last for almost a month, concluding with a grand finale on February 5. The tournament will open with a box office contest between two fierce rivals Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The two franchises will be led by stars of the Indian ODI World Cup-winning squad, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana. This upcoming season of WPL is highly anticipated as it follows India’s glorious campaign in the ODI World Cup 2025, which has brought women’s cricket to the centre of fan discourse.

Navi Mumbai and Vadodara to host WPL

WPL 2026 will be played across two venues, Navi Mumbai and Vadodara. The tournament has been divided into two legs. The first leg, starting from January 9, will be played in Navi Mumbai. The tournament will move to Vadodara after the first leg concludes on January 17. Each leg of the tournament will feature 11 matches.

After a break day, the second leg of the tournament will start on January 19. The last match of the league phase will be played on February 1. The Eliminator is scheduled for February 3, where the second and third-placed teams will lock horns for a place in the final to face the team which will finish at top spot in the league round. The fourth edition of the WPL will conclude on Thursday, February 5 with the grand final.
