Mumbai Indians women are currently placed second in the WPL 2025 standings.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 is nearing the end of its third season. Starting on February 14, the tournament has been action-packed and played across four venues: Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) had a disastrous campaign and have already been eliminated from the tournament with just two wins in first seven matches.

The two most consistent teams, Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) and Mumbai Indians Women (MI-W), have performed well again this season and are currently occupying the first and second spots in the points table with 10 points each. However, MI-W still have one game left in the league stage.

Nat Sciver-Brunt leads the run-scorers’ charts with 347 runs, while Amelia Kerr has been the tournament’s standout bowler with 13 wickets to her name.

Gujarat Giants (GG-W) have impressed this season after two disappointing campaigns and have finished third in the league with eight points.

How can Mumbai Indians women qualify for WPL 2025 finals directly?

The WPL, unlike IPL, follows a different format in the playoffs, where the top-positioned team in the league stage earns direct qualification to the Final, while the second and third placed teams fight it out in the Eliminator to make it to the Final.

Before the last league stage match of the WPL 2025, DC-W and MI-W both are tied with 10 points each. However, DC currently are placed at top because of better NRR. But, MI can displace them at the top if they win their last league match against RCB-W tonight, which would help them reach 12 points and top the table to earn direct qualification for the Final.

If they lose today, they will be stuck at 10 points and will finish second due to their inferior NRR compared to the Capitals. They will then have to face the Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator on Thursday, March 13, to qualify for the Final.

Both the Eliminator and the Final will be held at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, with the Final scheduled for Sunday, March 15. MI-W and RCB-W won the first two seasons of the tournament respectively.
