Yashasvi Jaiswal sledged Starc after the Australian went after Harshit Rana.

During the second session of day 2 of the Perth test match between India and Australia, young Yashasvi Jaiswal braved up against the fiery Mitchell Starc and enticed him by sledging the lanky Australian speedster. This from Jaiswal was perhaps a reaction to Starc’s sledge to debutant Indian pacer Harshit Rana earlier in the first sesion.

Australia were bundled out for 104 runs in their first innings in response to India’s 150 all-out. India gained a crucial 46-run lead, courtesy of a majestic five-wicket haul from Jasprit Bumrah. Debutant Harshit Rana claimed three wickets, including that of Starc and Travis Head.

During Starc’s batting innings, after he played a ball from Rana, who was his teammate at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Starc chirped at Rana, “I bowl faster than you. I have got a long memory.”

While Rana just smiled and walked back without replying, Jaiswal fronted up against Starc and sledged him back, saying that he was too slow.

Jaiswal had settled down in India’s second innings and batted throughout the second session alongside KL Rahul. He had flayed five fours in his unbeaten knock of 42, including an attacking pull shot to Starc.

When he was batting on 37*, Jaiswal defended a short ball from Starc solidly and sledged the Australian seamer, saying, “It’s coming too slow.” Starc didn’t react and walked back with a smirk on his face.
