Yuvraj Singh criticizes Abhishek Sharma for getting run out during 1st IND vs BAN T20I in Gwalior.

Legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has expressed his frustration with Abhishek Sharma after his dismissal in the first T20I against Bangladesh. The young left-hander had made a promising start to India’s chase, scoring 16 off just seven deliveries including two boundaries and a six. His innings, however, came to a sudden end when he was run out at the non-striker’s end.

Abhishek found himself in a tangle when he attempted a quick single, despite striker Sanju Samson refusing the run. Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy was quick to seize the opportunity, as he produced a direct hit to send the Indian opener back to the dressing room.

The dismissal left fans disappointed as Abhishek was looking in fine touch and all set to post a big score.

Yuvraj Singh’s stern words for Abhishek Sharma

After the game, Abhishek made an Instagram post, praising the performance of the Indian team. While one fan commented and expressed his optimism about Abhishek’s potential for a big score, Yuvraj was quick to post a blunt reply. The Indian legend made his disappointment known by remarking that a big score for Abhishek would only be possible if he used his “brains properly.”

This was not the first time that Yuvraj has openly criticized Abhishek, with the mentor sharing his honest assessments in the past. Yuvraj’s comments were in line with his reputation for giving honest and candid feedback to youngsters.

A Longstanding Mentor-Disciple Relationship

Abhishek has always spoken about the pivotal role played by Yuvraj Singh in his career. Just a couple of months ago, after he had scored his maiden T20I hundred, he credited Yuvraj for the hard work and guidance he had received over the years.

“I had called Yuvi paji after the first match, and he was really happy with the way I started. I believe he’s proud today, just like my family. He’s worked so hard on me over the past 2-3 years, not just on my game but in life overall,” Abhishek said after his T20I century in Zimbabwe.

Looking Ahead to the 2nd T20I

With Yuvraj’s statements fresh in his mind, Abhishek would look to bounce back on October 9 when India takes on Bangladesh in the second T20I of the series. The youngster would look to learn from his mistakes and help the Indian team seal the series on Wednesday.
