David Warner’s international career concluded with Australia’s exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Former India batter Yuvraj Singh has congratulated David Warner on his retirement and “incredible” career with a heartfelt Instagram post. Australia’s Super 8 round exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies marked the end of Warner’s international career.
It was a sad ending to a glorious and highly successful 15-year international career as Warner managed scores of three and six in his last two matches against Afghanistan and India, both games which Australia lost, resulting in their ouster from the tournament.
Warner bows out of the international arena with 18995 runs and 49 centuries to his name. He is a two-time ODI World Cup winner and one-time T20 World Cup winner. The left-hander was named the Man of the Tournament in Australia’s maiden men’s T20 World Cup triumph in 2021 in the UAE.
Yuvraj Singh makes Instagram post for David Warner
Indian legend Yuvraj Singh made a Instagram post for Warner. The duo had shared the dressing room together in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for two seasons in 2016 and 2017. Warner led SRH to the IPL title in 2016.
Yuvraj hailed Warner’s on-field achievements and his charisma off the field.
Singh wrote, “No one likes a quiet goodbye, but that’s the game of life mate. Well done on an incredible career @davidwarner31 ! From smashing boundaries on the park to nailing Bollywood moves and dialogues, you’ve done it all in true #Warner style.
“A feared batsman, a lively teammate and a true entertainer on and off the field. It was a pleasure sharing the dressing room with you buddy.
“Go well #legend and enjoy your well-deserved time off with the lovely family.“
