[Watch] Yuvraj Singh returns back to Indian dressing room, awards Mohammed Siraj 'Best Fielder' award after win vs USA

Mohammed Siraj took a superb catch of USA’s Nitish Kumar at the deep square leg boundary.
India pacer Mohammed Siraj won the Indian dressing room ‘best fielder’ award for his exceptional catch of Nitish Kumar in the IND vs USA match at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The Rohit Sharma-led side sealed their Super 8 spot with a win over the USA on Wednesday in New York. This was their third win in the group stage in as many games. They have a match against Canada left to play.
India restricted the USA to 110/8 with Arshdeep Singh starring with sensational bowling figures of 4/9. India suffered early hiccups in the chase, losing Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma with only 10 runs on the board and then Rishabh Pant with the target still 72 runs away. Suryakumar Yadav (50* off 49) and Shivam Dube (31* off 35) stepped up to take the side over the line.
Yuvraj Singh gives Mohammed Siraj the ‘best fielder’ medal
India’s fielding coach T Dilip invited legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh to hand Siraj the Indian dressing room ‘best fielder’ medal of the match against the USA. Siraj took a terrific catch of Nitish Kumar while fielding at the deep square leg boundary. He had to take a tumble on the ground to complete the catch, but he kept his hold on the ball and didn’t loosen his grip.
After receiving the award, Siraj said, “Amazing feeling. I remember, in last year’s World Cup I was a contender for the ‘best fielder’ award in all 11 matches but couldn’t win a single medal in that tournament. But hard work never goes to waste; it always pays off.”
Fielding coach T Dilip said, “When you keep working hard, your results will show. What impressed me about Siraj is that being a fast bowler, he always puts in that effort whether while fielding off his own bowling or someone else’s bowling. Today, he stood in the hot spots most of the time. Good to have fast bowlers standing at hot spots.”
