Yuvraj Singh has denied reports of contesting the upcoming Indian general elections on a BJP ticket.

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has denied the reports of him contesting upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Punjab’s Gurdaspur. Earlier it was reported that Yuvraj Singh might replace Sunny Deol, who is current Member of Parliament.

The 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup-winning player Yuvraj Singh runs an NGO called ‘YouWeCan’ to spread awareness about cancer. The former Indian all-rounder revealed that he wants to focus on his NGO and is not interested in joining politics.

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) reportedly offered him a ticket to contest elections, but Yuvraj refused. Yuvraj Singh is widely credited with winning two ICC World Cups for India in two different formats. Yuvraj was awarded Player of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup.

Yuvraj Sing posted on X to refute the claims of contesting elections. Yuvi posted, “Contrary to media reports, I’m not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through my foundation YOUWECAN. Let’s continue making a difference together to the best of our abilities.”

Yuvraj Singh wishes to make change in society through his NGO. Yuvraj himself is a cancer survivor. Yuvraj had to skip two years of cricket action. The former Indian all-rounder was admitted to a hospital in the United States of America (USA) for cancer treatment. Yuvraj was India’s main hero in lifting two ICC trophies i.e. ODI World Cup 2011 and ICC T20 World Cup 2007.

Yuvraj Singh is currently not involved with any team as a coach. While Yurvraj denied joining any political party, there might be a few cricketers who joins a political party and contest in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
