Veteran Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is enjoying his stint with Northamptonshire in the ongoing County Championship Division Two 2026. The 36-year-old is one of the picks of the bowler in the ongoing season and has become a key wicket-taker for their team.
In his recent outing against Durham in the ongoing game at County Ground, he bagged an excellent figure of 4/36 in 15.2 overs. He helped his team dismiss Durham to a below-average score of 205 in 56.2 overs.
During his spell, he also bowled a superb delivery to bowl former English captain Ben Stokes out at a score of 14. Chahal is playing his third game of the season, and he has bagged nine wickets already at an economy rate of 2.50.
His best of 4/36 came in the most recent innings against Durham. He dismissed captain Alex Lees, Stokes, Kasey Aldridge and Matthew Potts in his spell.

Stokes’ dismissal came at a crucial time for Northamptonshire, as Durham couldn’t recover from that point, losing the last five wickets for just 18 runs. It was the third delivery of the 47th over.
It was a perfect leg-spinner, which went in through the gap between bat and pad and crashed onto the stumps. Chahal bowled a wide delivery, and Stokes came forward to defend. The ball turned and hit the wickets.
Stokes looked surprised by the turn and had to go to the dugout after scoring 14 off 22 balls with two fours. This was the second consecutive time when Stokes was dismissed by an Indian leg-spinner. Earlier, he was dismissed by R. Sai Kishore in the previous game.
Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal was looking good for Durham. He scored 36 off 57 balls in the first innings and added 82 runs for fourth wicket with David Bedingham (81 off 91).
Meanwhile, Chahal has been brilliant for Northamptonshire. He was their highest wicket-taker during the England Domestic One-Day Cup 2026. He finished as 8th highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Chahal took 15 wickets in seven matches at an economy rate of 4.56.
