The Indian skipper, Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and opted to bowl first. India fielded three pacers, and only one pure spinner in Ravi Bishnoi. Ashok Sharma made his debut for India in T20Is.
Zimbabwe had a rough start to their innings, with a wicket on the first ball of the match. They could post only 125 runs on the board in 20 overs. Wessly Madhevere (39) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (27*) helped the team reach a respectable score.
Indian bowlers kept it tight for the Zimbabwean batsmen, with wickets in frequent intervals. Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav bowled economically giving only 18 and 19 runs in their overs, respectively.
India’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi orchestrated the chase for the team. He hit a half-century in merely 18 deliveries, registering his first in international cricket. Ishan Kishan (35) and Shreyas Iyer (28*) took on the chase further. Men in Blue won the match within 14 overs, and took a lead 1-0 in the series.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hit a sensational half-century in merely 18 balls. He became the youngest half-centurion in international cricket. The teenager eased the chase for India with his quick-fire knock. He had an underwhelming UK tour, but has finally announced himself in international cricket.
