Google Fitbit Edge launched at $179.99 with seven-day battery & built-in GPS
Google is yet to announce Indian pricing or availability for its new fitness tracker, which goes on sale globally on October 27
Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere
Google has launched the Fitbit Edge, a new fitness tracker priced at $179.99, with up to seven days of battery life, built-in GPS and more than 50 exercise modes.
Pre-orders are open on the Google Store and through retail partners, and the tracker goes on sale on October 27. A Stephen Curry Special Edition, co-created with the four-time NBA champion, costs $219.99.
Google has not announced a price or launch date for India.
Where Fitbit Edge fits in Google’s line-up
Google is pitching the Edge as a tracker for active lifestyles that can also be worn every day. It sits between the Pixel Watch and the screenless Fitbit Air in the company’s range.
The tracker is 11.5mm thin with a recycled aluminium case, which Google says is 45 per cent lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12. It comes in four finishes — Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Canyon — and works with interchangeable bands, sold separately.
The screen is the biggest change. Google says the hybrid OLED display offers 46 per cent more viewing area than its previous trackers, and it carries Google Maps, media controls and call and message notifications.

A week of battery and a five-minute top-up
Google claims up to seven days of battery life on a single charge, based on its own pre-production testing.
Fast magnetic charging gives a full day of use in around five minutes, though that requires a 30W adapter that is sold separately.
The Edge is also the first Fitbit tracker that can be repaired. Its internal parts are modular, and the battery can be replaced.
Built for training
The Edge offers more than 50 exercise modes, with real-time guidance such as pace targets, heart rate zones and track splits for sessions like HIIT intervals, Pilates and track work.
It can automatically recognise and log up to 100 types of workout, even if the wearer forgets to start one.
The built-in GPS works without a phone, and Google says it is up to 40 per cent more accurate than in previous generations. An altimeter tracks elevation changes on hill sprints, outdoor runs and stair sessions.
The tracker is water-resistant to 50 metres and rated IP68, though Google’s own footnotes state it is not waterproof.
Health tracking and the AI coach
The Edge monitors heart rate continuously, tracks skin temperature overnight and analyses sleep stages and heart rate variability to produce a recovery score each morning.
It also carries an ECG app, available only in select countries and not intended for anyone under 22. A set of Health Guardian features — blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends and high and low heart rate alerts — will vary by country.
Google stresses that these features are for general wellness and not for diagnosing any condition.
The headline software feature is the Google Health Coach, an AI coach that adapts training plans and helps users interpret changes in their health data. It requires a Google Health Premium subscription, sold separately, though every purchase includes three months free.
The Stephen Curry edition
Curry signed a multi-year deal with Google in August 2025 as a performance adviser for its Google Health and Fitbit products, working with the company’s engineers on the personal health coach.
The Special Edition Edge, which he co-created, comes in rye tones with game-day orange accents and a water-repellent coating that Google says is not permanent.
Phones it works with
The Fitbit Edge works with most phones running Android 11 or later and iOS 16.4 or later. It needs a Google Account, the Google Health app and an internet connection.
