Bundesliga: Ranking all 18 teams according to their squad values
German clubs have performed really well in various continental competitions in recent years.
Over the years the popularity of the Bundesliga has seen a massive boost, with viewership increasing all over the globe. The league is known for its passionate fans and their incredible stories.
The league also boasts a lot of young talent in Jadon Sancho, Leroy Sane, Marcus Thuram, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies and so on. Bayern Munich are the record champions, having won the title 30 times in total and eight times in succession since the 2012/13 season. Clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, FC Schalke, VfL Wolfsburg have proved tough competition over the years. Now, RB Leipzig have been playing some scintillating football and have announced themselves in Europe last season by reaching the semi-finals, of the UEFA Champions League.
Here, we take a look at the squad values of all 18 Bundesliga teams and their respective most valuable players:
18. Arminia Bielefeld- €47.15m
Last season's 2.Bundesliga champions may have the least squad value in the top flight league this season but Uwe Neuhaus' men play with a lot of heart and pride and this season their main aim will be to survive anyhow. While they have players like Arne Maier and Ritsu Doan with high market values but both the players are on loan so Dutch centre back Mike Van der Hoorn is their most valued player at €2.80m.
17. Union Berlin- €56.03m
After finishing 11th in the Bundesliga last season, Union Berlin are looking to take a step into the top 10 this season. Considering the start they have got it looks more than likely. They may be valued at €56.03m but their passion for the sport is invaluable. German centre back Robin Knoche is their most valuable player at €5.5m.
16. VfB Stuttgart- €80.35m
The newly-promoted side have played some great football as they currently sit in 8th spot in the league table. Although they are valued at €80.35 they have a lot of talented players. Among them, their most prized possession is Argentinian winger Nicolas Gonzalez valued at €12m.
15. FC Augsburg- €96.43m
Valued at €96.43m, Augsburg escaped the relegation playoffs last season by the skin of their teeth. They finished 15th last season by a margin of five points and therefore they sacked their former tactician Martin Schmidt and appointed Heiko Herrlich as their new manager. Their most valuable players are centre back Felix Uduokhai and striker Florian Neiderlechner as both are equally valued at €10m each.
14. FC Koln- €101.83m
The first club on the list to reach the 100million mark, FC Koln have developed a reputation of punching above their weight on occasions. However this season they are currently at 16th place but their fans will hope that the Billygoats will turn it around soon with their most valuable player Sebastiaan Bornauw leading from the heart of the defence. The young Belgian centre back is valued at €13m.
13. SV Werder Bremen- €102.5m
Werder Bremen have come a long way from once being considered as one of the challengers for the Bundesliga trophy to now being a mid-table team. Die Werderaner were on the verge of relegation last season as they somehow managed to win the playoffs against Heidenheim by the virtue of away goals rule. Werder are currently valued at €102.5 with their best player being Milot Rashica (€22m).
12. FSV Mainz 05- €103.95m
Currently languishing in the 18th position in the Bundesliga points table, FSV Mainz are valued at €103.95m with their most valuable player being French forward Jean Philippe Mateta (€15m).
11. SC Freiburg- €106.2m
The Christian Streich led side were promoted to the Bundesliga after winning the 2. Bundesliga in 2016. Their current value is €106.2m and their most valuable player in the roster is Austrian centre back Philipp Lienhart (€12m).
10. FC Schalke- €171.55m
One of the oldest and historic clubs in Germany aren't in great shape these days. Die Knappen are currently languishing in the 17th position in Bundesliga and are valued at €171.55m. The most prized asset in their roster is 20-year old Turkish centre back Ozan Kabak, valued at €29m.
9. Eintracht Frankfurt- €184.9m
Nicknamed as the Eagles, Eintracht Frankfurt are among the iconic clubs in Germany. Frankfurt have won the Dfb Pokal recently in 2016/17 and are valued at €184.9m. Their most valuable players are Filip Kostic and Andre Silva at €32m and €24m respectively
8.VfL Wolfsburg- €209.25m
The team which call the Volswagen Aren their home and have won the Bundesliga once in 2009 and came runners up in the 2014/15 season is valued at €209.25m. They have a lot of talented players among their ranks but their most valuable player is Dutch talisman Wout Weghorst at €30m.
7. TSC 1899 Hoffenheim- €224.1m
TSC Hoffenheim is a club based in Hoffenheim, a small village in Seinsham municipality. Currently managed by Sebastian Hoeness the club stands at a valuation of 225.1m Euros. While their most prized asset in the team is Croatian forward Andrej Kramaric at €27m.
6. Hertha Berlin SC- €234.63m
Once a German champion back in 1931, Hertha Berlin are still a very respected club based in the German capital. However, they are valued at 234.63m euros with their most valuable player being midfielder Matteo Guendouzi at €32m who recently joined from Arsenal.
5. Borussia Monchengladbach- €313.43m
The Foals have come a long way under the tutelage of current manager Marco Rose and are valued €313.43m. Former Arsenal target and midfield engine Denis Zakaria is their most valuable player at €40m. While German International, Matthias Ginter and French winger Marcus Thuram are valued at €32m each.
4. Bayer Leverkusen- €323.45m
Five-time Bundesliga runners-up, Bayer Leverkusen are valued at 323.45m Euros. Former Paris Saint Germain winger Moussa Diaby is their most valuable player with a valuation of €32m.
3. RB Leipzig- €514.59m
The Julian Nagelsmann led side had risen a lot in the last few years in German football and hence they see themselves in the third position with a valuation of 514.58m. Their most valuable asset is unsurprisingly French defender Dayot Upamecano with a market value of 60m.

2. Borussia Dortmund- €587.25m
The Black and Yellows have always had a lot of young players in their squad and therefore they stand second in terms of squad value in the Bundesliga with a total valuation of €587.25m. English sensation Jadon Sancho stands at Dortmund's most valuable player with a valuation of €117m.
1. FC Bayern Munich - €875.95m
The record German champions and the recent treble winners, Bayern Munich have a lot of great young and experienced players in their star-studded squad who are valued very highly, therefore, they are undoubtedly the most valuable side in the Bundesliga. Surprisingly at €90m German winger Serge Gnabry is the most valuable player for the Bavarians.
