This was also Bengaluru FC's first loss of the season.
Hyderabad FC recorded a 1-0 win over Bengaluru FC in their recent Indian Super League 2022-23 contest at the G.M.C. Balayogi Athletic Stadium, Hyderabad on Saturday. A late solitary goal from Bartholomew Ogbeche was the difference-maker between the two sides in the end.
The game did not have a lot of scoring chances in the first half but there was more joy for the attackers in the second period. Manolo Marquez’s men have maintained their undefeated start to the season, winning two out of the first three games. As for Bengaluru FC, a lack of cohesion in the final third led to their failure.
Here are the player ratings from the exciting clash between Hyderabad FC and Bengaluru FC:
Hyderabad FC (By Waseem Zaidi)
Laxmikant Kattimani (GK) - 7.5
The custodian was quick off his line and commanded his area well. In the end, he deserved a second clean-sheet in a row after making two saves and three catches.
Nikhil Poojary - 7.0
Nikhil Poojary was back in his favoured right-back position after the arrival of Mishra. The full-back was impressive with his work rate, getting 77 touches on the ball and keeping his flank locked down.
Chinglensana Singh - 7.0
The Hyderabad FC defence was solid against Bengaluru FC and Chinglensana Singh deserves credit for doing his duties well. He made three clearances and two interceptions.
Odei Onaindia - 7.5
Odei Onaindia was the pick of the defenders and helped his team record an impressive clean-sheet. Keeping the likes of Sunil Chhetri silent could not have been possible without the leadership of the defender.
Akash Mishra - 7.0
Akash Mishra’s return from injury saw him make several darting runs down the left flank to combine with Halicharan Narzary. He picked up a yellow, but the manager will be happy with his return to the lineup.
Joao Victor - 7.5
Joao Victor was crucial for HFC in both attack and defence. He was one of the few players who always had firm control of the ball and kept it moving. He had 74 touches on the ball and attempted 12 tackles.
Mohammad Yasir - 7.0
Yasir almost had an assist after providing a decent cross to Javier Siverio who could not convert his header from close-range. He created four scoring chances for the team, thus continuing a positive start to the campaign.
Hitesh Sharma - 5.5
The young midfielder was industrious in his display, working his socks off. He completed 24 of his 33 passes.
Halicharan Narzary - 7.0
The winger was close to scoring the first goal of the match after his shot from long-range hit the post in the second half. He also served Siverio with a delicious pass which the striker could not convert in the second half.
Bartholomew Ogbeche - 8.5
The experienced Nigerian striker was wayward in his shooting but found the back of the net with an opportunistic header to give the lead to Hyderabad FC. His goal was the difference which got the Nizams all three points.
Javier Siverio - 7.5
Javier Siverio caused problems for the BFC defence and was close to scoring twice with his head from close range. He was substituted around the 75th-minute mark and at that point, the Spaniard had four attempts with two on target.
