Lallianzuala Chhangte and Daniel Chima scored for their respective teams.
Mumbai City FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Jamshedpur FC at the Mumbai Football Arena (MFA) on Saturday. Lallianzuala Chhangte put the Islanders ahead in the eighth minute of the game but Daniel Chima leveled the scores four minutes later. The home side threw the kitchen sink after that but Aidy Boothroyd’s men displayed tremendous solidity and discipline at the back to take a point away from this fixture.
Without further ado, let us take a look at the player ratings for both teams from this encounter.
Mumbai City FC (Tarkesh Jha)
Phurba Lachenpa – 5
The goalkeeper was certainly taken a bit aback by Jamshedpur’s long throw-in strategy that led to their first goal. However, he held good command inside the box thereafter in addition to making some standard saves as well.
Rahul Bheke – 5
Bheke put in a couple of successful tackles and a clearance, but he could have been more dynamic and actively involved in the flank upfront especially when the Islanders were stepping up the ante in the second half.
Rostyn Griffiths – 5.5
Griffiths should have arguably been more alert in the run-up to Jamshedpur’s opening goal. However, he displayed great awareness post that and committed into challenges to keep the opposition’s attack at bay.
Mehtab Singh – 6.5
Mehtab put in a spirited performance as he was vigilant and proactive in countering Jamshedpur’s offensive moves throughout the course of the game. With five tackles along with three interceptions and clearances each, the centre-back certainly was the star in Mumbai’s backline this evening.
Sanjeev Stalin – 5
Sanjeev didn’t make any significant impact going forward but he lodged a good shift defensively. The youngster seems to be gradually getting in the groove in Mumbai’s back four.
Ahmed Jahouh – 6
Jahouh was at his creative best from the heart of the midfield. He linked up seamlessly well with Alberto Noguera and broke Jamshedpur’s attacks multiple times as well. However, the Moroccan international would have wanted to put Mumbai City ahead in the game before he was substituted off in the second half.
Lalengmawia Ralte – 6
Apuia had a couple of successful tackles and interceptions to his name. However, the 21-year-old had to be taken off a tad bit earlier as coach Buckingham loaded up Mumbai’s frontline in their quest for the second goal.
Alberto Noguera – 7
For the better part of the game, Noguera was practically everywhere as he sprinted back to recover the ball and transition it into attack on several instances. He tried every trick in the book to unlock Jamshedpur FC’s backline, but was warded off by the opposition’s strong defensive discipline.
Lallianzuala Chhangte – 7
Lallianzuala Chhangte continued his impeccable goal-scoring form with a fine finish from a low-cross by Greg Stewart in the seventh minute. He made some incisive runs in the right flank post that but was brought off as Buckingham looked to introduce the fresh legs of Vikram Pratap Singh in the second-half.
Bipin Singh – 5.5
Bipin made numerous runs down the left wing, but he will be ruing missing out on making any decisive delivery into the box throughout his stay on the pitch. That imperious final ball was missing from his game and that possibly stripped Mumbai City from a possible victory in this game as well.
Greg Stewart – 6.5
Greg started off brightly by recording an assist to set the tone of the game against his former club. He withdrew to a deeper role as the game progressed and had an influential impact in that position as well.
Yet, none of his passes could be converted into a goal by the other forwards, including a terrific delivery that Jorge Pereyra Diaz squandered in the final minute of the game.
Substitutes
Vikram Pratap Singh – 5.5
Vikram looked far more threatening in the short duration that he played from the centre during his 33-minute-long stay on the field. He even chipped the ball at the crossbar once but his impact withered off after shifting to the right flank post-Diaz’s arrival in the proceedings.
Rowllin Borges – 4
Borges gave away the ball rather meekly on more than a few occasions and that pushed Mumbai City further away from getting their hold on those coveted three points.
Jorge Pereyra Diaz – 4
Diaz failed to convert a terrific chance in the final seconds of the game and that’s as much of an impact that he could have had in the game.
Gurkirat Singh Gill – N.A.
Came on very late to have any sort of impact in the match.

Jamshedpur FC (By JN Balraj)
Rehenesh TP - 6
Was left rooted for the goal by Islanders. Made two saves from open play.
Laldinliana Renthlei - 6
Started the second half with an aim to reduce the errors and make up for an average performance in the first half. Won all four of his aerial duels and got 51 touches on the ball.
Pratik Chaudhari- 6
Won only three out of his seven ground duels and three out of four of his aerial duels.
Eli Sabia - 6
One of the more active and influential players for the Men of Steel as he made splendid last-ditch challenges. Very comfortable on the ball as he completed 84% of his passes.
Ricky Lallawmawma - 5.5
Subpar performance from the left-back in the first half. Substituted at half-time for Vignesh with 34 touches on the ball and after losing both of his ground duels.
Germanpreet Singh - 7
Composed performance in the middle of the park as the youngster showed maturity on and off the ball. Won all of his ground duels and completed five of his nine attempted long balls.
Wellington Priori - 6
Wellington had a slight niggle and carried the game with that. He was good against the quality midfield of the Islanders.
Boris Singh - 6.5
Could not gather any end product but was a sizeable threat on the right flank. Completed one of his two take-ons successfully.
Ritwik Das- 6
Dangerous in attack with his silky dribbling, but kept getting stranded by the relentless pressing of Mumbai City players. Could only generate one tame shot on target for the entirety of the game.
Harry Sawyer - 6
Could not retain his stellar form from the last game. Gave way to JET in the 82nd minute after none of his attempted crosses found their target and he only managed 27 touches on the ball.
Daniel Chima - 7.5
The Nigerian striker scored the opening goal for Jamshedpur FC and was probably their best player on the pitch.
Substitutes
Jay Emmanuel - 6.5
The former Arsenal captain Jay had a decent start to life in India. We can expect him to start in upcoming games considering the glimpses tonight.
Farukh Choudhary- 6.5
Came off the bench and put up some amazing show on the flanks where he has always excelled.
