The Mariners left it late to secure three points against the Highlanders.
ATK Mohun Bagan recorded a 2-1 win over NorthEast United in the 2022-23 Indian Super League at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata on Thursday. Goals from Liston Colaco and Subhasish Bose were enough to cancel out the goal from Aaron Evans. The visitors gave a good account of themselves and almost went away with a point.
The odds were heavily in favour of ATK Mohun Bagan before the game began. Their squad had more stability and high-profile players than struggling NorthEast United which lost all of its previous games before tonight. Despite it all, the game was very competitive and it took a late goal to decide the winner.
There were many notable individual performances from ATKMB’s win over NEUFC. Here are the player ratings from the match:
ATK Mohun Bagan (By Waseem)
Vishal Kaith (GK) - 6.0
Vishal Kaith had the situation under control until the Highlanders equalised in the second half. The custodian did not help the defenders in marking the opposition players and left a lot of room on the right side which led to the headed goal. Apart from that, he made three saves to keep his team afloat.
Asish Rai - 6.5
Asish Rai was influential down the right wing for ATK Mohun Bagan. He made 63 touches on the ball, got a shot on target and created one scoring chance for the team. However, his marking for the NorthEast United equaliser could have been better after Aaron Evans was left unmarked on the right side.
Brendan Hamill - 6.5
Brendan Hamill was involved in quite a few duels and altercations during the game. He was unlucky to come away without a clean-sheet and also received a yellow card during the game. However, the centre-back had a 98% passing accuracy and made four clearances as well.

Joni Kauko - 6.5
Joni Kauko had an eventful outing, to say the least. He picked up a yellow card for protesting and almost scored seconds later with a header. However, in the next moment, he was caught simulating for a penalty and luckily avoided a second yellow card.
Hugo Boumous - 8.0
The attacking midfielder was a constant source of threat and got the assist for Liston Colaco’s goal in the first half. In 74 minutes of football, Boumous had 62 touches on the ball and created two scoring chances for his team.
Manvir Singh - 6.0
While Manvir Singh created three scoring chances for the team, he was not able to get on the scoresheet himself. The striker needs to identify spaces and put himself into areas where he can score for the team. He had two shots on goal and none were on target.
Liston Colaco - 7.5
Liston Colaco combined well with Hugo Boumous to score with a precise right-footed finish into the bottom left corner. The winger did struggle to keep his shots on target and could not add a second to his tally. A strong performance on the left wing nonetheless by the player.

Romain Philippoteaux - 7.0
