The full-back was struggling to find game-time in the ongoing ISL season.
Indian Super League outfit Bengaluru FC have announced the departure of Hira Mondal. The full-back was a new arrival for ISL 2022-23 following a fruitful season with East Bengal last term. As far as the club statement is concerned, the club and the player have parted ways with mutual consent.
The termination of Hira Mondal’s contract took the BFC fans by surprise. They were expecting the new signing to impress in the 2022-23 season. However, playing minutes were few under Simon Grayson for the 26-year-old.

Lack of appearances
Hira Mondal simply did not get enough chances to impress Bengaluru FC and the fans. He made four appearances for the Blues in the Durand Cup 2022 but none in the ISL 2022-23. He made the matchday squad only once, against Odisha FC on 27 October, 2022, but did not enter the fray.
It remains unclear as to what was the planning behind signing Hira Mondal for the 2022-23 season of the Indian Super League.
Bengaluru FC have had a horrible start to the league. Under the leadership of Simon Grayson, who took over from Marco Pezzaiouli, the club has lost four out of their first six matches of the campaign, with only one win and draw under their belt. The start of the season and the contract termination of Hira Mondal are aspects that are uncommon when it comes to Bengaluru FC, which is popular for its professionalism and sensible planning.
Possible Destination
The next destination for Hira Mondal could be a return to East Bengal, as he is in talks with the club according to reports. He made 16 appearances for them in the league last term. Having said that, not waiting for his favourite club and signing elsewhere for more bucks could lead to Stephen Constantine questioning the prospect of bringing him back into the club.
However, both Hira Mondal and East Bengal could benefit from the move, if it happens in the forthcoming days. Other ISL clubs will also be interested in signing the player who is now a free agent.
