Both the superstars are once again going head to head

Whenever & wherever two giants of the game take part in same league or same World tournament comparison between the two becomes a trend. Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo both are considered as best in football among millennials. Both have achieved special mention in every record book with their blazing goal scoring ability. There is a race among them in FIFA World Cup 2022 as well.

Both legends have opened their goal scoring account with a penalty. Ronaldo with a score against Ghana became the first player in the history to score in 5 different FIFA World Cup editions.

Race Between Messi & Ronaldo

Considering 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as last World Cup edition in their career, race among both these player have intensify. Messi is just one goal behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup Goal scoring tally. With a penalty score against Saudi Arabia equalled Ronaldo’s 7 Goal. Now with a goal against Ghana Ronaldo again took the lead against Messi. Both the superstar made their World Cup debut in 2006 in Germany. Though, for their respective teams that edition was not fruitful yet both these young guns at that time had a good run. Ronaldo scored in his second World Cup while Messi did in his first game against Serbia.

Since then Cristiano Ronaldo scored in every edition he played so far, while Messi did miss to score in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in held in South Africa. Argentina star Lione Messi had his best run in 2014 in Brazil with 4 goals. Apart from that in 2006, and 2018 Messi scored only one. Fans are expecting Messi to do his magic more in this edition. Lionel Messi in his World Cup career so far played in 20 games. Argentina’s loss against Saudi Arabia might put him under pressure too. Messi has a total of eight goals in the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo in FIFA World Cup

Talking about Cristiano Ronaldo, his best performance came in previous edition where he scored 4 goals. In other editions including 2006, 2010 & 2014 in Brazil Ronaldo scored just one goal. Recent controversy around him is also making a loud noise yet Ronaldo in the opening game against Ghana showcased he is still hungry & willing to win the race. He has a total of 8 goals in the World Cup.
