The FIFA World Cup in Qatar is coming to an end with final on 18th December. Winning the World Cup is always the ultimate dream of any footballer. Watching their flag on top of the world along with the World Cup trophy is the highest honour for a footballer. Since its inception in 1930, The World Cup had a total of 22 editions with Brazil winning the most of them, a total of five. The second spot is divided between Germany and Italy with four World Cups each.
For winners, it’s like living a dream but for the runners up it is like being able to watch the trophy but not able to grasp it. Having struggled to come all the way up and then fail to take that one more step to glory is a tough feeling for everybody, and it amplifies when you carry a nation’s hope with yourself. Nonetheless, it’s just a game, which have winners and losers. Over the years, with winners there are many runners up too. Interestingly, Germany is the nation with the most runners up places in the FIFA World Cups, a total of four times.
