TRAU FC set to sign goalkeeper Shayan Roy

The goalkeeper has signed a season-long contract with the northeast side.

Goalkeeper Shayan Roy is set to pen a season-long contract with I-League side TRAU FC, Khel Now can confirm. The goalkeeper recently featured for Bhawanipore FC prior to his move to TRAU. The 31-year-old custodian has good experience playing for the likes of Delhi Dynamos FC, Mohammedans SC, Gokulam Kerala FC, etc.

“Shayan Roy will pen a contract with TRAU FC which is valid till the end of this season”, a source close to the development informed Khel Now. The transfer will be subjected to the medicals, if the criteria are met, the custodian will feature for TRAU FC in the second part of this I-League campaign.

About the Player 

Shayan Roy born on September 10, 1991, in Kolkata, West Bengal kick-started his footballing career playing for Minerva Punjab Academy. In 2016, he signed a professional contract with Kolkata giant Mohammedan SC. During his tenure with Mohammedan, he was featured four times under their bars. 

His career had a major breakthrough in 2017 when he got picked up for the reserve side of former Indian Super League club Delhi Dynamos FC. After playing for a year making 4 appearances under the bar for their B-team, Shayan finally earned a promotion to the main team in 2018. The player spent the season as a backup goalkeeper for Delhi Dynamos.

He later on went to sign for TRAU FC in 2019 followed by a move to Gokulam Kerala FC in 2020. The custodian ultimately featured for Bhawanipore FC prior to his second move to TRAU FC. 

TRAU FC in I-League 2022-23

The Manipur-based team is showcasing having an intermediary performance in the ongoing I-League season. The team is currently in 6th place, middle of the pack with 13 points from 9 matches. Head Coach Leimapokpam Nandakumar Singh looks to resort to things as early as possible to improve his side's performance.

The Manipur-based outfit played 9 matches in the ongoing I-League campaign where they lost 4, drew 1, and won 4. So far the team shared the spoils only with Aizawl FC this season.
