Nongdamba Naorem set to sign for ATK Mohun Bagan

The winger was previously a part of the Mariners.

FC Goa winger Nongdamba Naorem is all set to join ATK Mohun Bagan, Khel Now can confirm. A source close to the development informed Khel Now, "Nongdamba is heading towards ATK Mohun Bagan. He is joining in this January window itself. It's a permanent transfer. The player has terminated his contract with FC Goa."

ATK Mohun Bagan might have the likes of Liston Colaco, Manvir Singh and Ashique Kuruniyan on the wings. But the former not firing and Manvir just returning from an injury has propelled the management to go ahead and secure the services of Nongdamba Naorem.

About the Player

This is not the first time, rather the third occasion when Naorem will be signing for the Mariners. He was previously a part of Mohun Bagan's I-League winning squad in 2019-20 and impressed under the tutelage of the then head coach Kibu Vicuna. In January 2021, Naorem again made a comeback to ATK Mohun Bagan.

This season, he has hardly featured for the Gaurs. He didn't even feature much in the matchday squads. Thus, making a switch to ATK Mohun Bagan will not only add options to Juan Ferrando but also enable the youngster to add some heroics to his resume.

ATK Mohun Bagan's performance in ISL 2022-23

It has been a topsy-turvy season for the Mariners so far. They currently sit fifth in the ISL 2022-23 points table with 24 points. Also, they're the sole team in the top six, who have scored the least number of goals.

In the January window, ATK Mohun Bagan signed quite a number of influential players. Be it Puitea or Federico Gallego or Slavko Damjanovic or Glan Martins, all of them are tested candidates of the Indian Super League. With a handful of games left in the ISL and the Super Cup commencing in April, Juan Ferrando will aim to bring out the best from his squad and bag some silverware in order to keep away the critics.
