Bundesliga is finally back after the World Cup break

After a long mid season break due to the World Cup, Borussia Dortmund and FC Augsburg will be restarting their respective campaigns in the Bundesliga. Both the clubs are set to take on each other Sunday evening. Augsburg will be travelling to Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund will be looking to shake off first half disappointment in the league. They are currently at Number 6 in the table with 25 points in 15 games. In the first half Dortmund played 15 games and won 8, while they ended up with zero points in 6 games. Just before the FIFA World Cup they lost 2 consecutive games, one against Wolfsburg and one against Monchengladbach. Dortmund in those two encounters conceded 6 goals in total. FC Augsburg is an opportunity for them to revitalise their campaign in the league.

In the other hand FC Augsburg also had disappointing run in the Bundesliga. Augsburg is currently placed at 14th position in the Bundesliga table. In the first half before the World Cup Augsburg managed to win only 4 games out of 15 they played. FC Augsburg in their initial campaign had struggled with playmaking. Though, they got few big wins under their names yet they could not managed to hold on for long. Starting the second half campaign against Borussia Dortmund will be a challenging task for them as well. After Erling Haaland’s exit Yousouffa Moukokohas taken charge of Dortmund’s attack, and his speed will be cause of concern for Augsburg defense. Sebastian Haller’s entry in Dortmund might make a difference between these two teams as well.

Team News

Newly Import from Ajax Sebastian Haller could make his debut for Borussia Dortmund. After Erling Haaland’s exit they were looking for a support to Moukoko. Haller can be a better option in providing Dortmund the attacking game style they always thrive for.

For FC Augsburg injury has been a grave concern this season. Many players have struggled for match fitness in 2022-23 season. Iago, Andre Hahn, Niklas Dorsch are out for a long time while  Mads Pedersen may make a comeback in the team.

Players To Watch

Sebastian Haller

His debut for Dortmund will be an interesting one to watch out for. Haller has been a top player for Ajax. He played 50 games for the Ajax and had scored 32 goals for them. Dortmund’s missing link this season was attack. His entry will probably make things better for the club. This will be Haller’s second time in Bundesliga.

Jude Bellingham

After a great World Cup performance, this young man will be watched closely. Bellingham played an important role as a Mid fielder for Dortmund in the first half. Bellingham had scored total of 9 goals this season with 3 goals in Bundesliga.
