The Reds have one of the biggest wage bills in the Premier League
Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world in terms of financial and overall stature. However, they follow a very old-school approach when it comes to finances. They are not too inspired by modern transfer tactics such as giving big fat contracts to many players and paying big transfer fees.
The most convincing example of their financial structure was the decision they made last summer not to offer Sadio Mane, who was an integral part of their success, a high-paying contract. In addition, Liverpool is also not afraid to splash money if it’s worth the return, like when they signed Darwin Nunez for a record-breaking €75 million last summer.
The club has many big stars, like Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk, two of the league’s top earners. Nevertheless, if we look at Liverpool’s wage bill, we can see a steep drop in player wages, which is obvious given Liverpool’s hierarchy. Their current wage bill stands at £155,668,000 a year.
Let’s take a look at Liverpool players’ weekly and annual salaries.
