The North London club make a trip to the South at Selhurst Park on Wednesday.

The Premier League fixtures keep rolling at the start of 2023 as Tottenham makes the trip to Crystal Palace for this all-London clash on Wednesday night. A miserable 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa kicked off 2023 in inauspicious circumstances for Spurs. They conceded first for the tenth game in a row, dropping them out of the top four in the process. Patrick Vieira's side eased to victory at Bournemouth last time, while the lacklustre Lilywhites were nullified in a two-goal defeat to Unai Emery's Aston Villa. Tottenham may have marched to a convincing 3-0 win over Palace on Boxing Day 2021, but their record at Selhurst Park leaves a lot to be desired. The Eagles are unbeaten in four home matches versus Spurs in all tournaments. Posted their own eye-catching 3-0 success over a Nuno Espirito Santo-led team last season.

Kick-off: 1:30 AM(IST), 8:00PM(GMT)

Crystal Palace (all competitions): D-D-L-W-L-W

Tottenham Hotspur (all competitions): L-W-W-D-D-L

Players to Watch

Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha

Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha has risen to stardom in his lacklustre side. Known for his crafty footwork and nifty skills. Zaha has excelled in this left-wing position this season, aggressively applying pressure on opposing defenders to regain possession and consequently isolating defenders to create one-on-one situations out wide. Zaha has established himself as one of the finest attacking talents in the Premier League. He ith his awe-inspiring dribbling garnered extensive media attention. With an improved Crystal Palace squad this season, Zaha hopes to finish higher up in the table.

Tottenham

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

His build is a near-perfect one for any modern-day player; muscular, tall, and robust, and his agility and swiftness on the ball is incredibly profound for someone of his build. The way he glides with the ball allows him to be press resistant and rarely get dispossessed. This a trait every manager in world football wants in his holding midfielder. Part of what makes Højbjerg such an intelligent, proactive midfielder is his ability to drop into different positions to receive the ball and also progress possession into the second phase. The composure that Højbjerg holds in tight and chaotic situations is one of his strongest attributes. His presence is key for his team.

Team News

Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell is suspended for Wednesday's Tottenham Hotspur's clash but Vieira could welcome James Tomkins back to his starting XI after the defender served his one-game suspension. There are no fresh concerns on the injury front for the hosts, and Vieira may also name an unchanged XI from the weekend's victory at Bournemouth.

As for Tottenham, attacking injury concerns are rearing their ugly heads once more, as Dejan Kulusevski missed the loss to Villa with a muscular problem, but the club are supposedly hopeful that the Sweden international can return for Wednesday's game. Yves Bissouma picked up his fifth Premier League yellow card of the season against Aston Villa which means he's suspended for the trip to Selhurst Park. Oliver Skipp is also in contention.

Predicted Lineup

Crystal Palace Predicted XI (4-3-3):

Guaita; Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Ward; Doucoure, Schlupp, Olise; Ayew, Zaha, Eze.

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted XI (3-4-3):

Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Doherty, Sarr, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon; Son, Kane, Perisic.

Prediction

Selhurst Park isn't an easy place to visit at the best of times, and Tottenham has struggled on this ground in recent years. It's always a tight and cagey affair, with very little separating the two sides. It's poised to be a tough watch for Spurs supporters against a talented Eagles outfit, but they might just do enough to walk away with a point.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur
