We take a look at the players, who were able to score twice for the most number of games in the preceding year.
With the birth of modern football in the past few years, the game has changed drastically. New tactics have come into play, and this has somewhat ruined the natural free flow of the game.
This revolution has also forced the attackers into fulfilling other obligations towards their teams rather than just staying in the pivotal position and anticipating for the ball to come their way.
This has significantly forced the attackers to up their game, making it much harder for players to score goals. In these situations as well, some players haven’t failed to impress, and have scored not once, but twice in a single game. So today, we look at the players, who have the most braces in 2022.
10. Ivan Toney – 5 (37 games)
The Brentford centre-forward left no stones unturned in his first complete year in the Premier League, as he scored a total of 5 braces. Ivan is the record holder for the most number of goals scored in a single EFL Championship season, with a total of 31 goals. The English international has already scored 12 goals in 16 games in the Premier League this season and is surely one of the most lethal attackers in The Premier League right now.
9. Heung Min Son – 6 (52 games)
Son has had an incredible 2022. The South Korean international, became the first Asian ever to win the Premier League golden boot, as he scored a total of 23 goals, tying himself in the number one spot along with Salah. Across the calendar year, Son has scored a total of 6 braces, including some crucial ones against teams like Frankfurt in the Champions League, and Manchester City in the Premier League.
8. Wissam Ben Yedder – 6 (48 games)
The 32-year-old makes his way into the top 10, after another splendid season with Monaco FC. Ben scored 6 braces in 2022 and netted a total of 25 league goals last season. With his incredible expertise in the face of the goal, it is no surprise that Ben Yedder makes the list. His goal tally is also up there among the best in Ligue 1.
7. Neymar Jr – 6 (43 games)
It’s no surprise that the Brazilian books his spot in the top 10. Neymar had another amazing year in terms of numbers, as he had a total of 52 goal contributions for the club and country. The 30-year-old started his 2022-23 season in absolutely fine form and is currently in 2nd place on both goals and assist tally in Ligue 1 behind Mbappe and Messi respectively. Neymar scored a total of 6 braces in mere 43 games.
6. Cristopher Nkunku – 7 (58 games)
Nkunku had his breakthrough season in 2021-22. The French international had 37 goal contributions last season, including some incredible performances that startled the entire footballing world, and made his presence known across Europe. Nkunku scored a number of goals, including 7 braces in 2022, and was a key cog in his team’s qualification for the Champions League last season.

2022 was definitely the best year for La Pulga, as the 7 times Ballon D’or winner finally got his hands on the precedented World Cup trophy. Lionel Messi has hit fine form since the beginning of the season and has scored a total of 7 braces for club and country in Ligue 1, the Champions League and also the World Cup final against France. Messi’s numbers when it comes to assists, are also unmatched, making him one of the most complete players in football at the moment.
4. Karim Benzema – 8 (39 games)
Karim has had a year to remember. Although the French international missed out on the World Cup due to an injury, Karim won the Ballon D’or, Champions League and LaLiga in 2022. Coco wrote his name in the history books of Real Madrid, after a truly spectacular Champions League campaign with the Los Blancos. Across the entire year, Benzema scored a number of goals, totalling 8 braces for his club and country, his double against City in the UCL semi-finals being the most significant one.
3. Robert Lewandowski – 11 (51 games)
Any goalscoring list is absolutely incomplete without the inclusion of Robert Lewandowski. Robert is a pure number 9, and most definitely the best goal scorer in world football in the past 3-4 years. In 2022, Robert was magnificent for the Polish national team, as well as Bayern Munich and Barca, and is currently the top scorer in La Liga. Lewandowski scored 42 goals in 2022 which included 11 braces.

Mbappe really hit the ground running in 2022 and truly made a statement as to why he is the King of the generation to come. His incredible speed and finishing were something that no defence had an answer to. The French International had the most number of goals for club and country last season and was truly spectacular every time he stepped on the pitch. His 15 braces throughout the calendar year, also make him the player with the most braces in 2022.
