Ligue 1 2022-23: Marseille vs Monaco: Predicted lineup, injury news, head-to-head
The French league host third and the fourth-place battle between the Olympians and the Red and White.
Marseille, the hottest team in Ligue 1, returns to the Stade Velodrome on Saturday to face Monaco in pursuit of their seventh consecutive home victory. Les Olympiens and Les Monegasques have accumulated the most points in the league since the start of the domestic season last month, with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Igor Tudor's squad is now on 42 points, two behind Lens for second and five behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. OM has conceded 16 goals in 2022-23, the third-fewest in Ligue 1. They have won five consecutive matches at the Stade Velodrome in all competitions, outscoring their opponents 13-2, including a 1-0 win over Rennes last Friday to reach the Coupe de France final 16. Les Minots have won four of their past six league matches against Les Monegasques but have not accomplished a top-flight double since 2007-08. They've only conceded multiple goals in three domestic matches this season, including last November's 3-2 win against Monaco.
Monaco beat Ajaccio 7-1 last weekend, their biggest top-flight win since beating Guingamp 6-0 in November 2017. Monaco scored five times in the opening 35 minutes on Sunday, their first top-flight goal since August 1984, when they defeated Metz 7-0. While inconsistent, Les Monegasques have won 10 of their 14 games in this competition since September, with PSG being the only team to perform better. The French Riviera club is winless in seven domestic matches against top-seven teams, including a 2-2 draw against Lorient in their previous away match. They have scored in 12 consecutive matches in all competitions, although they have conceded multiple goals in three of their previous four Ligue 1 road games. Les Monegasques have won only once in six visits to the Stade Velodrome in all competitions, beating Marseille 1-0 last season.
