The Manchester United manager elucidated on the Frenchman's injury.
At Manchester United, Antony Martial has developed a reputation as an injury-prone player who spends more time on the bench than on the field.
Despite being cleared to play against Crystal Palace, he was once again benched. The French player sustained an injury following the game against Nottingham Forest but was able to recuperate in time for the encounter against Palace, even though it appeared he sustained another injury and missed the game.
Martial has missed 18 games overall this season, the majority of them due to muscular issues.
Ten Hag provided an update on the 27-year-old's frequent injuries during a press conference.
Erik, does there ever become a point where you can’t rely on Martial anymore? This is a constant thing where you have him on the team and then he's out. What's his problem?
He is not always available. Also, I see the other side of when he is available, and he has never been 100 percent this season. But he has a big impact every time he is available, even when he is at 80, 85, or 90 percent. So, we do everything, and Anthony Martial is doing everything.
Anthony Martial I think is the player who spends the most hours at Carrington this season, to return, to recover, to get back. It is really such a pity for him and us. He is disappointed, and he is not always available like we want him to be. That will improve our game because routines cannot continue when you are not always available.
Is there any injury that keeps occurring?
''No. "Every time it is in a different area."
What is it at the moment?
"At the moment, it is his hip."
Manchester United were compelled to search for a striker in the market after Ronaldo left since relying solely on Martial was ineffective.
Even though Wout Weghorst from Burnley was acquired on loan, the team will still search for a proven goal scorer. Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen have both been linked with the club for a summer move.
It is still unclear, though, on whom the club will spend its summer transfer budget.
