The Premier League announced a new rule at the start of the in 2022-23 season. During the lockdown, the maximum usage of substitute players was changed from 3 to 5. After a shareholder meeting between the 20 clubs in Premier League, the FA reinstated the 5 substitute rule. There are many teams in the Premier League who have taken full advantage of this rule. Some clubs have benefitted specifically in terms of goalscoring as well. Many managers often use specific players as "super - subs".

Let's take a look at the top five clubs with the most goals from substitutes in Premier League 2022-23:

5. Leicester City - 4

Speaking of inconsistency, Leicester City are finally getting out of their winless bouts. The Foxes are finally seeming to get back to form. Despite Manchester United beating them, Leicester City have managed to bag 3 wins out of their last 5 games. Leicester also scored 4 goals in back to back matches against Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspurs. Praet came on as a substitute against Aston Villa and scored the 4th goal.

4. Brentford - 4

One of the biggest surprises this season in the 2022-23 Premier League is Brentford's performances. Brentford are in the contention for a top 6 spot and performing quite well. Moreover their last match against Crystal Palace was very crucial. Crystal Palace were leading 1-0 until Brentford's substitutes came in clutch. Janelt scored a equalising goal in the 96th minute to snatch a point for Brentford. Overall Brentford's substitutes have scored 4 goals so far in the Premier League 2022-23 season.

3.Tottenham Hotspurs - 5

The Lilywhites have been suffering from inconsistency ever since the season started. Their goalscoring duo Harry Kane and Son Heung Min did not perform as expected. Though Kane is doing quite well on his own, Son is just getting started with his form and has scored 4 goals off the bench in the Premier League this season. After Conte dropped him to the bench, Son Heung Min returned as a substitute and did wonders. Son scored a goal off the bench against West Ham as Spurs rise to 4th in the Premier League table.

2. Liverpool - 5

The Scousers are in dire need of performances from the substitutes after their long injury list. Klopp is missing out on various key players and himself has admitted that the squad needs many new players. However Liverpool have some young players at their hands and they are performing well. Overall Liverpool's substitutes have scored 5 goals. This includes the likes of Carvalho and Bajcetic, both who are possible candidates for the starting XI. Bajcetic scored a goal as a substitute against Aston Villa.

1. Manchester United - 9

The Red Devils have made the best out of their substitutes. Moreover Erik Ten Hag has completely changed Manchester United. United are also in the contention for the Premier League title alongside Manchester City and Arsenal. Garnacho is the future of Manchester United alongside Antony and Jadon Sancho. Sancho and Garnacho are amongst the substitute goalscorers for Manchester United. Garnacho came on as a substitute against Leeds United and scored a goal. In the previous match , Sancho came on and scored the third and final goal again Leicester City.
