The Brazilain joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022

Carlos Henrique José Francisco Venâncio Casimiro or Casemiro joined Premier League giants Manchester United in the summer of 2022 for a reported fee of upwards £60 million. The move raised plenty of eyebrows as the Brazilian left a Champions League-winning side for an underwhelming and underperforming giants who were just starting a new rebuild with a new manager in charge - Erik ten Hag.

While many fans speculated that the Brazilian was moving for a last big paycheck at 30 years of age. On top of that, Manchester United lost their opening 2 fixtures of the new Premier League season against Brighton (2-1) and Brentford (4-0), Casemiro was unveiled at Old Trafford in the pre-match of the clash against rivals Liverpool, the Red Devils dug deep and won the match 2-1 and since the introduction of Casemiro into the midfield, Erik ten Hag's team have never looked back.

The Brazilian has shown plenty of passion and the Old Trafford crowd have fallen in love with the five time Champions League winner. Adding to his usual defensive capabilities, the Brazilian has also shown a very wide range of passing and an ability to nick in with a few goals here and there.

Casemiro has revealed that the spelling of his name on his shirt has been wrong for years

Explaining what happened during an interview on Football Focus, Casemiro said: "So the thing is, my name is Carlos Henrique Casimiro, with an 'I' there.

"I remember that I played a game for Sao Paulo and the club got my name wrong. They wrote it with an 'E'. I played really well in that game and as I'm a superstitious person. I said to them, 'Just leave it like that, as things are going well!'

"So the name stuck, but my name is Carlos Henrique Casimiro. It was a mistake made in one game. The name stuck and I said, 'No need to change it, leave it as it is'".

Casemiro has continued to flourish ever since Sao Paulo's error and has played a key role in every club's success he has been to ever since.

The Brazilian star will be looking to kick off his trophy tally with Manchester United and end the five-year trophy drought at Old Trafford. Manchester United face Newcastle United in the League Cup/ EFL Cup final on 26th Febuaryray 2023.
