BFC striker Sivasakthi Narayanan stretchered off in ISL 9 final

The striker had been recently called up to the India squad ahead of the team's upcoming games in Imphal.

ISL 9 Emerging Player of the Year award winner Sivasakthi Narayanan was stretchered off the pitch after sustaining an injury in the India Super League final against ATK Mohun Bagan in the opening minute. Striker Sivasakthi got crushed between Carl McHugh and Ashique Kuruniyan sustaining a bloody nose. Veteran Sunil Chettri was brought in as a substitute in the third minute for Sivasakthi. The 21-year-old was one of the bright talents in ISL and his presence in the final and his absence was a massive blow to the Blues.

What's more the attacker's impressive showing had earned him a spot in Igor Stimac's India squad for the upcoming Tri-Nation International Football Tournament et to begin in Imphal on Wednesday. he injury in the ISL showpiece has now put the striker's chance of an international bow for the Blue Tigers in doubt.

Sivasakthi has six goals and three assists and has created 14 chances overall in the ISL season. He played a significant role in Bengaluru FC’s journey to the final. 

ATK Mohun Bagan defeated Bengaluru FC via penalties clinching their second ISL title. Both teams opened the scoring through penalties. Dimitri Petratos scored the equalizer in the 85th minute to take the game to extra time. The match ended in a draw after the completion of extra time leading to a penalty shoot-out. Pablo Perez failed to convert the final penalty thereby losing the match. Sunil Chettri played his part as a substitute by equalizing at the end of the first half. 

Bengaluru FC, after an 11-match unbeaten run, lose two successive matches to finish their ISL 9 season.
