The midfielder will be a brilliant addition to the squad ahead of the new season.

One of the finest women footballers in India, Indumathi Kathiresan, signs for Gokulam Kerala FC. A source close to the development informed Khel Now, “Indumathi has signed for Gokulam Kerala. However, the contract period remains undisclosed. It might be for one season.”

She joins from Lords FA ahead of the new Indian Women’s League season. The length of her contract with the defending IWL champions GKFC is yet under wraps. However, she brings a lot of quality to the team, with several high-profile players on the roster.

The Indian international midfielder has played for the likes of Sethu FC in the past and is a strong name to join the Gokulam Kerala FC ranks. Indumathi Kathiresan was recently in action for the Indian senior women’s national team. She scored a great long-range goal against Uzbekistan in a narrow 3-2 defeat on 28 March 2023.

A versatile midfielder

Indumathi Kathiresan is one of the finest footballers of her generation. The exciting-to-watch midfielder has several tools in her arsenal that make her a dangerous operator. She can unlock defences with penetrative passes and strike from range. Her pace on the channels is also a weapon and she can finish under pressure as well. Above all, her technical qualities give her an edge over the rest of the competition.

The 28-year-old is a great acquisition for Indian Women’s League defending champions Gokulam Kerala FC. During the 2021-22 campaign, the outfit won all 11 of their fixtures to win the league and enter the upcoming edition as favourites.

The groups for the IWL were recently announced. Gokulam Kerala FC find themselves in Group A alongside the likes of Sports Odisha, East Bengal, Mata Rukmani SC and more. There are eight teams in two groups and the top four will qualify for the knockout stage.
