Top six managers who can replace Graham Potter at Chelsea

The Blues announced that the manager has departed the club.

Chelsea FC have parted ways with Graham Potter after facing a 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa on Saturday. The club released a statement on Sunday in which they announced that "Graham Potter has departed the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future. Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach."

Chelsea are in turmoil of their own right now. Spending a total of £323 million in the January transfer window, they still couldn’t manage to win any single match in the month of February and with zero wins in their last five premier league matches. There was speculation going around that manager Graham Potter is not able to do what he was supposed to do when he was brought in after Thomas Tuchel was sacked in the month of September last year. Now, Potter has faced the same faith.

Here are the options Chelsea's management could rope in as replace Graham Potter's replacement:

Zinedine Zidane

With two La Liga trophies and three UEFA Champions League trophies under his belt, while managing the Real Madrid squad consisting of Modric, Benzema, Ramos, and Ronaldo, it should be a no-brainer to have Zinedine Zidane as their manager. With such a pool of talents in the squad right now, a man manager like Zizou could be a great option for getting the squad back on track. With no managerial job after leaving the Bernabeu in 2021, he could be a great option for the club.

Mauricio Pochettini

The former Tottenham and Paris Saint-German manager could be another option for the job. Having managed in the Premier League earlier, he knows what goes on in the league and knows how to handle the pressure. With such a young squad, the Argentinean can work his magic as he is known for developing young talents into great players. He has proven his capabilities by reaching the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final with Tottenham and can be an option that the club can look for.

Luis Enrique

After resigning from his former job of being the coach of the Spanish National Team after the world cup, the former Barcelona manager Luiz Enrique can be another good option too. With a style of play which is based on stretching the opposition to create space by the wingers or fullbacks, Enrique can use the speed of youngsters like Mudryk, Ziyech, Felix or even Sterling to get his job done. With a deep flat midfield consisting of ball-playing midfielders like Enzo and Kovacic, he can get Chelsea into a tempo of their own. And it would be a treat to watch two former Barcelona managers battling for the Premier League title.

Diego Simeone

From 2011, he has been the manager for the LaLiga side Atletico Madrid. For the year he has been in the club, he has changed the club in a way that they now compete with the likes of Barcelona and their neighbors Real Madrid. After winning two La Liga trophies with Atletico and helping them win the Europa League twice, the Argentinean is now looking for a new adventure. According to rumours, Simeone isn’t extending his contract with Atletico Madrid which is going to expire in June 2024 and it is speculated that he can leave the club after serving almost 12 years there. With a defensive playing style, with wingers coming in-field during the attack, he does have the potential to bring back the good old days at Stamford Bridge if he lands the job.

Roberto De Zerbi

No one thought that after Potter left for Stamford Bridge, the south coast of England will enjoy its fair share of moments which they had under him. But when Roberto De Zerbi came in as the replacement for the seagulls, things haven’t been that bad. Chelsea might look for Zebri as the replacement for Potter as he really handled the squad well after Potter left. The type of pressing play and using his runner for attack will be a treat to watch if he gets the job.

Julian Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann
Nagelsmann is currently the favourite for the Chelsea job according to rumours

The young german manager was recently sacked by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel replaced him. Naglesmann is not linked to the Chelsea job to replace Potter. While Real Madrid and Tottenham also have the German manager on their shortlist and the Blues will need to act fast if they want to bring in Nagelsmann as the new manager.
