Who is Sontje Hansen - Ajax rising youngster?
The Dutch young prodigy has caught the eye
Sontje Hansen, a Dutch professional footballer who currently performs forward for Jong Ajax, was born on May 18, 2002.
On December 18, 2019, Hansen received his Ajax first team start against Telstar in a KNVB Cup game. He participated in his debut Eredivisie game against ADO Den Haag four days later, entering the game as a replacement in the 79th minute.
European clubs keeping tabs on 17-year-old
As they attempt to negotiate deals ahead of this summer's window, agents and club officials from all across Europe, and in fact the whole world, will be constantly on the phone and email.
People will always want to get in touch with Ajax and ask about the newest players coming out of their renowned academy, and it appears that this year won't be any different.
Sontje Hansen, an elite striker from Ajax, is reportedly being evaluated by Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. Just £6 million has been put on the 17-year-old, which is a pittance for a youngster with Hansen's potential.
Who is Sontje Hansen?
The Ajax teenager made a name for himself during the 2019 Under-17 World Cup in Brazil as a leadoff hitter. In a stretch that saw his nation get to the semifinals, Hansen scored six goals for the Netherlands and took home the Golden Boot.
His hat trick over Nigeria, which was a perfect demonstration of expert execution, was one of his greatest performances in the competition. The striker struggled to score in his first two matches of the competition before embarking on a three-match scoring spree.
Hansen has already experienced playing time with the first squad this season, continuing Ajax's stellar tradition of showcasing their young talent.
On his debut professional outing, the 17-year-old played against Telstar in the Dutch Cup. Four days later, against ADO Den Haag, Hansen made his Eredivisie debut after being substituted.
And over a month will pass before Sontje becomes 18 years old.
Soon to become a free agent
The youngster is valued extremely low because Hansen's current contract expires the following summer, in June 2021. Despite the fact that there is still some time until the player's deal ends, in football parlance, this is the moment when agents start to become more prominent.
An argument between the player's agents and the club is most likely to come next. Whether it's a wage raise or a club change, the goal of every negotiation is to get the greatest result for the player.
Any potential purchasers can postpone their plans to sign Hansen for free if Hansen's representative makes it apparent that the player didn't sign another deal with the team.
If the team decides to cash in because the player won't sign a new deal, his fee will be significantly less than the market rate. Prospective suitors are aware that waiting just a year will get them the player for free.
High-profile incidents involving players like Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, and even Josh Maja of Sunderland serve as examples of the player influence presently prevalent in premier league football.
