The little magician has scored many goals for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Throughout his club career, Lionel Messi has now directly contributed to 1,000 goals. On Saturday night, Messi scored his 701st club goal as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Nantes 4-2 in the Champions League.

Moreover, the 35-year-old has contributed to 299 goals throughout Ligue 1 and LaLiga in France and Spain. 841 league games and 1,000 goals later, Messi has contributed 1,000 goals.

Hence, during the course of his club career, he has averaged 1.19 goals or assists per game. His career goal total across all competitions was 799.

Following making a late dash into the area to connect with a Nuno Mendes cross, Messi scored in the 12th minute with a skilful near-post finish.

Five minutes later, PSG extended their advantage thanks to an own goal from Jaouen Hadjam, but Nantes had tied the score by halftime thanks to goals from Ludovic Blas and Ignatius Ganago.

On the hour mark, Kylian Mbappe assisted Danilo Pereira to give PSG the advantage once more.

Then, in injury time, Mbappe scored his own goal to secure a 4-2 victory and establish himself as PSG's all-time leading scorer.

The 35-year-old has been a great playmaker in addition to being a prolific goal scorer, and now that he has contributed to 1000 goals, the former Barcelona player might shatter two more records if he manages to score or assist against Bayern Munich in the second leg.

The World Cup champion has 299 assists in 799 goals for clubs.
