The 17-year-old gained tons of media attention, after being spotted training with Real Madrid’s first team

Succession is not a foreign concept in football. Through the years, we’ve seen various descendants follow the footsteps of their fathers, and emerge in the centre stage of football. Players like Erling Haland and Daniel Maldini, are such players, who took no different path than their parents, and are doing very well in establishing their own names. Another such player, who has opted for the idea of succession, is Enzo Zidane Fernandez, the eldest son of footballing legend Zinedine Zidane.

The 27-year-old plays for Fluenlabrada, and has a preconceived regard towards his name, solely because of his father’s unending legacy. But lately, there has been the emergence of another young lad, who belongs to the same bloodline, who carries the same passion for the beautiful game, and whose career looks truly promising.

This player is none other than Elyaz Zidane, the youngest son of Zinedine Zidane, who truly looks like someone who has the potential to make it big. So let’s take a closer look towards finding out more regarding the 17-year-old, and whether he can follow in the footsteps of his father, and create the kind of impact his father had in the footballing world.

Elyaz’s journey so far

Born on boxing day of 2005, Elyaz was the fourth and the youngest in the family tree of the Zidanes. Being the son of a legendary footballer, and all his brothers also showing keen interest in football, young Elyaz started his journey in football and began playing for CD Canillas, which is a feeder team of Real Madrid. Following this, 7-year-old Elyaz joined La Fabrica, which is the academy of Real Madrid in 2013.

The next seven years saw Elyaz Zidane making a steep journey towards becoming one of La Fabrica’s top talents, as a result of which he started playing for the U-19 team of Real Madrid, from the 2021-22 season.

The player’s progress since has been phenomenal, and he is slowly and steadily looking to make his way into the first-team roster as well. Elyaz’s progression and sheer talent were also recognised by the club, and the youngster was given an opportunity to train with Real Madrid’s first team in February 2023.

On the international stage also, Elyaz Zidane has made a name for himself at the U-17 stage, scoring two goals and also captaining the national team in a game against Spain. Elyaz was also a key cog in the French team that won the 2022 U-17 Euro and is definitely on the right path towards finding himself a part of the Senior National team.

Elyaz’s playing style and potential

Zidane has played as a left-back throughout his career but is slowly making a shift towards playing as a centre-back as well, due to his 6-foot-3-inch vertical stature. The player has great technical quality, a good vision of the game and defensive forcefulness according to Real Madrid Management chiefs.

His incredible height also makes his physical presence intimidating, and gives him a superior edge in aerial battles. A creative outlook towards the game also helps Elyaz Zidane in his gameplay, and with proper nurturing, we can be sure of his talents getting the proper environment to evolve into something special.

What the future holds for Elyaz

Elyaz Zidane has proved a lot of potential at a very tender age and is continuing with his progress day by day. Being given the opportunity to train with the first team speaks highly of the kind of faith and belief Madrid have in their rising star.

Though it is still very early to speak anything regarding his future in club football, we can be pretty sure of the fact that the young Frenchmen is going to showcase his utter excellence, and his prowess wherever he plays, and who knows we might even get to see him donning the colours of Los Blancos, at the very top level of club football.
