Sebastian Mikkelsen: Profile, playing style, scouting report

Denmark is creating huge talent who are attracting European clubs.

After producing football greats like Elkjær Larsen, Brian Laudrup, Peter Schmeichel, and Christian Eriksen, Denmark is on an unofficial hunt to find a football talent that will help them reach the pinnacle of the sport. While the team has had above-average performances in international competitions, Denmark aspires to push beyond the limits and taste international glory. 

With the current Denmark team possessing some quality talents, the country's future in football looks bright as they host a promising young footballer in Sebastian Mikkelsen. Aged 16, Mikkelsen is a bright talent, and it shouldn't be a surprise if he is scouted by some of the world's best clubs shortly. 

Silkeborg academy

Born on November 1, 2006, Sebastian Mikkelsen is a Danish footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for the Danish club Silkeborg IF. Having begun his youth career at the club, Mikkelsen went on to play for the U-19 team of Silkeborg IF, and since then, the Danish native has met with tremendous success. 

Approximately ten months ago, Mikkelsen signed his first contract with Silkeborg IF. While the contractual details are not made public, receiving a contract at such a young age is only indicative of the immense talent the 16-year-old has. In fact, recently, German clothing giant Adidas signed Sebastian Mikkelsen to their stable of promising footballers.

However, this success is not all for the Danish teenager. Since signing a senior contract with his boyhood club, Sebastian Mikkelsen has also played for Silkeborg IF's senior team unofficially. While he couldn't score a goal or record an assist in his senior game, Mikkelsen has had a phenomenal season in the U-19 boys league till now. Having made four appearances for the U-19 side, Sebastian has scored two goals and recorded one assist. 

Internationally, Sebastian Mikkelsen is making a name for having featured for Denmark's U-16 and U-17 sides. While he couldn't record a goal or an assist for the u-16, Mikkelsen has had a fabulous record for the U-17 team by scoring six goals in 10 appearances. The 16-year-old is now expected to feature for Denmark against England in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification.

Strengths

Operating as an attacking midfielder/winger, Sebastian Mikkelsen has the pace to succeed. Along with being pacy in the final third and the flanks, Mikkelsen has made quite a name for himself with his dribbling. With sublime trickery and top-notch control, the 16-year-old has everyone on their feet when he makes a run with the ball. 

While Mikkelsen's pace and dribbling have garnered attention, it shouldn't take the shine away from his passing ability, vision, and finishing. When launching an attack for his team, Mikkelsen's ability to find his teammates and set them up for a goal has been crucial for the teams he has played at. 

Overall, Sebastian Mikkelsen seems to be a very gifted player. With excellent ball control, footwork, and dribbling skills, Mikkelsen has the quality to be extremely useful in 1v1 situations. This level of skill at the tender age of 16 speaks a lot about Sebastian Mikkelsen's talent, and the player has the potential to succeed in some of Europe's biggest teams.
