Serie A 2022-23: Roma vs Sassuolo: Predicted Lineup, Injury news, head-to-head, telecast
The Giallorossi take on The Neroverdi in the Serie A
Roma takes on Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon looking to protect their remarkable recent run at the Stadio Olimpico. Jose Mourinho’s side have now gone five Serie A matches without conceding at home. This does not bode well for Sassuolo, who have found goals hard to come by this season, averaging just over one goal per game.
Despite their dominance on paper, the hosts are unlikely to have an easy game of it on Sunday, as Sassuolo visit the capital in solid form. Alessio Dionisi’s side has beaten the likes of Milan and Atalanta in recent weeks and will arrive at the Stadio Olimpico full of confidence. Given the visitors’ strong form, they should not be written off ahead of this weekend’s clash.
Kick-Off:
Sunday, 12-03-2023, 5:00 PM(GMT); 10:30 PM(IST)
Roma Form (All Competitions): D-L-W-W-L-W
Sassuolo Form(All Competitions): W-W-D-L-W-W
Players to Watch Out
Roma: Paulo Dybala
Dybala is still a talented player with fuel left in the tank. Paulo Dybala has a very specific skillset, and it’s particularly effective playing as an attacking midfielder/ shadow striker. He is capable of playing off the right flank, but he lacks the natural pace and 1v1 ability of a more traditional winger, which results in him moving centrally more often than not. The Argentine creator adds a different dynamic to Roma’s attack and should play a major role in the team. If he can stay healthy, one can imagine this output only improving with a team for which he’s the focal point of the attack.
Sassuolo: . Armand Laurienté
Armand Laurienté is an artificial modern-day wide forward, his skillset should be grouped among Italy’s top wide men. Often stretching the opposition’s backline by holding his width on the touchline and being a willing natural runner, Laurienté has developed his understanding of his physical skills and used that to his advantage while playing in Italy. His ability in isolation situations stands out the most about his game. His presence will be a threat to Roma's defence.

Injury and Team news
With Bryan Cristante set to miss his first game of the season through suspension, Mourinho could opt to play Giorginio Wijnaldum in a more withdrawn position or bring in the likes of Mady Camara or Eduardo Bove. Tammy Abraham is expected to start having been sacrificed for an extra body in midfield against Juventus.
Domenico Berardi will slot straight back into the team having served out a one-match suspension against Cremonese. Gregoire Defrel has thrived in the absence of Andrea Pinamonti and may retain his position up front against Roma.

Match Prediction
There was nothing to split Roma and Sassuolo last season and the two sides should be involved in a close encounter at Stadio Olimpico this weekend. Sassuolo is in good form and shape, they will be confident going into the match. With Roma playing mid-week in the Europa League and without the ever-present Bryan Cristante, perhaps Sassuolo could come away from the Stadio Olimpico with a point after all.
Prediction: Roma 1-1 Sassuolo
