These players have accumulated many trophies.
It is generally known that Real Madrid have lifted the Champions League trophy more frequently than any other team, a record 15 times, with AC Milan coming in second with seven victories and Liverpool following closely with six.
Who players have won the most Champions League titles, despite Los Blancos being by far the most decorated team in Europe? Here are some honourable mentions before the full list of players with the most UEFA Champions League titles in history.
Karim Benzema: 5 (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022)
Throughout the bulk of the campaign, Karim Benzema has served as Real Madrid’s interim captain and has shown leadership in every game. This season’s Champions League knockout rounds saw the Frenchman record back-to-back hat tricks, making him the oldest player ever to do it. He has been in all five finals and won the championship five times.
Benzema was a member of the 2014 competition-winning squad that defeated Atletico Madrid. He also started up front for Los Blancos in the competition’s 2016, 2017, and 2018 iterations as they won three straight. The striker scored in the 2018 championship game’s 3-1 victory against Liverpool. He also started the 2022 champions League match versus Liverpool which they won 1-0.
Gareth Bale: 5 (2014,2016,2017, 2018, 2022)
Bale moved to Real Madrid in 2013 for an unknown sum that was later determined to be a record-breaking £85.1 million (€100.8 million) transfer price. Bale contributed to the club’s five Champions League victories by becoming a member of the succeeding three known as the BBC with Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.
He had several fantastic stretches with Real Madrid before he declined as a player and left the team in 2023. Yet he eventually gave up playing football.
Paolo Maldini: 5 (1989, 1990, 1994, 2003, 2007)
Maldini, one of the finest defenders football has ever seen, achieved the game’s peak with AC Milan and was one of the few players to play his whole career with the club. And In addition to their defensive skills, centre-backs have a large trophy collection.
Between 1985 and 2009, the tenacious Italian defender made 647 games for AC Milan, including eight finals for the European Cup or Champions League. His five victories included leading the team in 2003 and 2007.
Cristiano Ronaldo: 5 (2008, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018)
Mister. The Champions League is Cristiano Ronaldo, in fact. No player before the Portuguese great has ever dominated the tournament as he has. He became the first player to accomplish it throughout the Champions League period and has won the tournament five times.
In 2008, Ronaldo won his first championship with Manchester United when they overcame Chelsea on penalties. He got a goal in for the Red Devils during the game’s regulation time. In 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018, he won his second, third, fourth, and fifth titles while donning Real Madrid white.
Paco Gento: 6 (1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1966)
Gento, who played for the team that claimed the first five European Cups, was the most accomplished player in the annals of European continental professional football and was promoted to captain of Los Blancos in 1966.
He made a name for himself at Real Madrid and continued the heritage of that club as one of Europe’s most powerful teams with the most Champions League victories. Moreover, he is still the only footballer to have captured the most Champions League championships.
