The American League has gained a lot of popularity in some years.

The MLS is where many top football players choose to retire from the game. The Major League Soccer (MLS) is sometimes referred to as the "retirement league".

This is due to the fact that the majority of foreign elite players in the MLS are quite old!

Some veteran players in elite leagues, particularly those in Europe, wish to continue competing. Nonetheless, the majority of them find it challenging to compete in these leagues with greater intensity. As a result, you'll notice that these players no longer enter the starting lineup or receive a brief playing time during each game.

As a result, the majority of these players choose to sign with MLS teams. They can start a new task there and perhaps put a stop to their career.

5. Sergio Busquets

Since that he has made it clear he has no ambition of sticking around with Barcelona, Sergio Busquets might join MLS the next season. However a one-year contract extension was given to the midfielder, but no discussions between the clubs and board have taken place. Busquets acknowledged his love for America and did not completely rule out joining an MLS team in the coming summer.

Inter Miami of the MLS is apparently interested in hiring him. Busquets is currently representing Spain at the 2022 World Cup on an international level.

4. Robert Lewandowski

Lewandowski has played a long time in Europe.

Although Robert Lewandowski's deal with Barcelona runs through 2026 and includes a one-year option to renew it, the Polish striker is thinking of finishing his career in Major League Soccer once he leaves Catalonia.

Lewandowski has previously been questioned multiple times about his willingness to give up playing football in the US. When asked if he could one day compete in the MLS before leaving Bayern Munich to sign Barcelona, the Poland international was evasive.

The decision to join Chicago Fire in 2017 like his former teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich is still up in the air.

3. Sergio Ramos

According to reports, the MLS has made Sergio Ramos two offers to leave PSG. The Spaniard's contract is about to expire, and there have been no discussions about extending it.

Inter Miami CF and LA Galaxy are interested in signing the former Real Madrid player, according to a report.  The Spanish player is ideal for bringing experience to the team because both sides aim to strengthen their defence.

Ramos moved to PSG in 2021 after Real Madrid withdrew their offer for a new deal. When he became a free agent, the Ligue 1 team swiftly signed him.

2. Neymar

Neymar
The Brazilian star has been prolific in the French and the Spanish league over the years.

The Brazilian international, who is under contract at Ligue 1's PSG through June 2025, said on a podcast he's keener to play in MLS than return to his native Brazil. “I don't know, I have some doubts about that. I don't know if I'll play in Brazil again,”

When questioned more, Neymar said that the MLS season is shorter than the one in Europe, giving him more holiday time and lengthening his career. Teams can participate in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for up to ten months, though.

The 30-year-old has previously speculated on a transfer to the MLS. Two years ago, during a one-on-one discussion with Otro, David Beckham offered Neymar a sort of pitch.

1. Lionel Messi

The MLS commissioner, Don Garber, stated that the league will move and think "beyond the box" in order to get the World Cup winner to the United States, indicating that Lionel Messi is still very much in the league's plans.

Messi has been connected to Phil Neville's Inter Miami for a very long time. Even the former Everton and Manchester United player acknowledged this last month.

With Paris Saint-Germain, the 35-year-old is still displaying brilliant abilities in France. He has contributed to 20 league games for the capital club with 12 goals and 12 assists.
