Defender Benjamin Fredrick, a 17-year-old from Nigeria, is currently the subject of attention from clubs in Europe, including Anderlecht, RB Leipzig, and Midtjylland. Now being contracted by CAA Base, Fredrick emerged as one of the standout performers in the U20 African Cup this month.
Age-grade games, such as the U-20 Cup of Nations and World Cup, have historically provided outstanding athletes with a road to success. Benjamin Fredrick, a defender for the Nigeria Flying Eagles, is allegedly coveted by RB Leipzig, Midtjylland, and Anderlecht. At the just-finished U-20 AFCON tournament in Egypt, the 17-year-old defender led Nigeria to a bronze medal.
Leipzig, Midtjylland, and Anderlecht are interested in recruiting Benjamin, who is presently affiliated with Nigeria Premier Football League team Nassarawa United FC, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 1.87-inch-tall defender will concentrate on getting ready for the FIFA U-20 World Cup as his agents, CAA Base, continue talks with prospective teams.
The teams may only commit to a pre-contract with the player until May 2023, when he reaches 18, as per transfer laws.
Benjamin, the captain of Nigeria, was a rock at the back, and he has been called up to the Super Eagles squad along with goalkeeper Aniagboso for the AFCON qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.
