Sunil Chhetri, after scoring against Jamshedpur FC, became Hero Super Cup's all-time top-scorer.

Bengaluru FC booked a place in the 2023 Hero Super Cup final with a compelling 2-0 win over Jamshedpur FC in the semi-final on Friday. After enduring a lot of pressure from Aidy Boothroyd’s side, the Blues found the lead through a Jayesh Rane header in the 67th minute.

Jamshedpur FC tried piling bodies forward for an equalizer, but Bengaluru FC put the game to bed in the 83rd minute with a clinical counter-attack, ending with Roy Krishna putting a goal on the plate for skipper Sunil Chhetri.

Here are the Player Ratings for the game.

Bengaluru FC

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu – 9.0

Gurpreet single-handedly kept Bengaluru FC level in the first half. He made some amazing saves, including some incredible reflex saves using his feet.

Namgyal Bhutia – 6.5

Bhutia dealt strongly against the dangerous Ritwik Das, matching his movement and keeping him quiet with tight marking. Came up with some clutch challenges to avert trouble too!

Bruno Ramires – 8.0

Ramires fit in well into an unnatural centre-back role and maintained a mean backline. Frustrated Daniel Chima Chukwu with his diligent defending and restricted him to harmless efforts. Made a number of key blocks to avert disaster too.

Sandesh Jhingan – 7.5

Jhingan commanded a strong backline, coming up with some vital clearances to bail his side out of trouble. A bit too aggressive for his own good at times, which got him booked, but generally reliable with his defending.

Naorem Roshan Singh – 6.5

Roshan was solid at the back, but struggled to create much up front – with most of his crosses going uncharacteristically astray.

Suresh Singh – 7.0

Suresh was again like a bulldog in midfield, hassling opponents with his pressing and ability to win back possession multiple times. Couldn’t create anything however, and his forward passes often went astray, but he maintained impressive energy levels to keep the midfield line bouncing.

Rohit Kumar – 6.0

Kumar was quite the energetic figure in midfield in the first hour, winning battles and helping his side defensively. However, a lack of creative threat saw him taken off.

Javi Hernandez – N/A

Javi was doing well in orchestrating attacking moves for Bengaluru FC in the first half-hour, but had to be taken off due to an injury.

Udanta Singh –  6.0

Udanta made a few promising forward runs, using his pace to good advantage – but his final delivery left much to be desired.

Sunil Chhetri – 7.0

Chhetri was frustrated on the left in the first half, but became more influential after moving into a more central role. Dictated the play better with his forward passes and got himself in the right place for his strike.

Roy Krishna – 7.5

Krishna worked himself to the ground to ensure Bengaluru FC got the win. He buzzed around like a bee in the final third, moving all around to trouble the defenders. Got himself through on goal multiple times in the second half and after missing the first, he helped set up Chhetri’s strike on the second occasion.

Substitutes

Jayesh Rane – 7.5

Rane added more energy to Bengaluru FC’s midfield after coming on and made some clever forward runs. Placed a smart looping header past an unsuspecting TP Rehenesh for his goal.

Pablo Perez – 7.0

Perez caused chaos in the Jamshedpur FC half after coming on, making some really clever off-the-ball runs and linking-up to set up some nice moves. Made some great runs and kept the defenders on their edge with his general movement.

Sivasakthi Narayanan – 7.0

Came on and made an almost immediate impact from the right-wing, making a great run and sending in a threatening cross to set up Rane’s goal. Added more incisiveness to Bengaluru FC’s attack after coming on.

Aleksandar Jovanovic – N/A

Brought on late and helped Bengaluru FC see out the result.

Jamshedpur FC

TP Rehenesh – 6.0

Rehenesh was proactive with his reactions in his box, showcasing impressive 1v1 goalkeeping skills by denying Chhetri and Krishna. Unable to react quickly enough for Rane’s header and unlucky to see his save from Krishna’s effort lead to Chhetri’s goal.

Laldinliana Renthlei – 6.0

Laldinliana did a pretty solid job to keep Chhetri quiet and also ensure Roshan Singh couldn’t cause much trouble. Grew tired as the game went on and made some unnecessary challenges.

Pratik Chaudhari – 6.5

Pratik was a diligent figure at the back, maintaining impressive positioning and smartly marking Krishna throughout the game. Made some key clearances and moved the ball around well.

Eli Sabia – 5.5

Sabia helped maintain a compact defensive shape, but lost concentration at times. Couldn’t really predict the state of play leading to Rane’s goal and lost track of Krishna before Chhetri’s strike.

Ricky Lallawmawma – 6.5

Ricky did a solid job in ensuring Udanta couldn’t cause much trouble from the right, not allowing him to create much. Didn’t really have much attacking prowess, but defensively pretty compact all game long.

Jitendra Singh – 6.0

Jitu was mostly pretty secure in helping protect the backline, often dropping deep to fend away danger. Unlucky to see his attempted clearance fall in Rane’s path for Bengaluru FC's first goal.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas – 7.5

JET was definitely Jamshedpur FC’s biggest creative and goal-scoring threat. Forced a huge double-save from Gurpreet with a vicious shot early on and created another major chance in the first half. He romped forward with the ball fearlessly and tormented Bengaluru FC with his passes. Surprisingly taken off in the second half.

Boris Singh – 6.5

Boris was relentless with his forward movement down and right and caused trouble with his pacey runs. Came close to scoring at times, thanks to smart positioning, but denied by Gurpreet on both occasions.

Ritwik Das – 5.0

Ritwik was a threat with his general movement, but lacked that goal-scoring edge he’s shown in recent months. Unable to get himself in scoring areas, not able to create anything big.

Rafael Crivellaro – 6.0

Crivellaro helped dictate the majority of Jamshedpur’s build-up play and was really smart with his forward passes. Threatened with his set-pieces at times, but lacked that ruthlessness in his game.

Daniel Chima Chukwu – 4.0

Chima failed to make any major impact, being neutralized in the Bengaluru box. Neither could he really test Gurpreet with anything major nor was he able to create much with his build-up play.

Substitutes

Harry Sawyer – 5.0

Tried to use his physicality to bully the defenders, but unable to come close to scoring.

Farukh Choudhary – N/A

Made some nice forward runs, but lacked ruthlessness.
