Motto behind this game
Kerala, one of the footballing hubs in India, has been grappling with a rising issue of excessive drug usage over the past few years. The state's young population has been particularly affected by the drug menace, with reports of drug abuse and addiction on the rise.
The easy availability of drugs, particularly synthetic substances like MDMA and other designer drugs, has worsened the situation. Drug trafficking has also been a concern, with the state's proximity to major drug-producing countries like Afghanistan and Myanmar making it a transit point for drug smugglers.
By fielding a number of big-time players, Indian football is playing its part in trying to spread awareness against this social evil, and is once again proving that football is much more than just a game.
