Der FCB and The Cityzens have often encountered each other on the European big stage

Manchester City entered the Football League in 1892, and the FA Cup was their first significant victory in 1904. The club's first significant spell of success was between the late 1960s and the early 1970s. The club's first-ever Champions League final, which they lost to Chelsea in 2021, occurred under the Guardiola era.

While Franz Beckenbauer served as the Bayern Munich's captain in the middle of the 1970s, it saw its greatest success, winning the European Cup three times in a row (1974–1976). Bayern has won six UEFA Champions League and European Cup championships overall (a German record), and they earned their sixth trophy in the 2020 final as part of the Triple.

Among the most accomplished European clubs is Bayern Munich, one of just five teams to have won every one of UEFA's major club competitions.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich, two of the current giants of European football, have engaged in some thrilling matches recently.

Bayern are a recognised six-time champion in the region while Man City remains to pursue its first Champions League title.

The quarterfinal matchup in the 2022–23 Champions League pits two of the competition's top contenders for the championship against one another. The fact that Joao Cancelo surprisingly transferred from City to Bayern in the January transfer window on loan and is now qualified to play against his original club adds another layer of interest.

There aren't many matches between the two teams to draw from in the past, and they haven't played since 2014. The outcomes of Bayern Munich's past matches against Manchester City are shown here.

A 2011 Champions League group round encounter served as the two teams' first official encounter. Bayern was coached by Jupp Heynckes, and Roberto Mancini was in charge of City.

Mario Gomez scored both of Germany's goals, each side of the half, to help them win the group. Unexpectedly, City emerged victorious with a 2-0 triumph at the Etihad in their second encounter during that group stage. The goal scorers were Yaya Toure and David Silva.

Villarreal and Napoli were in the group, and the Italian team joined Bayern in the following round. City came in third and was eliminated from the Europa League.
