How will youngsters at Chelsea benefit from Mauricio Pochettino's appointment?
Chelsea are on the verge of appointing Pochettino after a round of progressive talks
Following their decision to fire Graham Potter at the beginning of April, Chelsea are reportedly close to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as the new manager of the club. Nearly a year has passed since Todd Boehly & Clearlake Capital assumed control of Stamford Bridge, but it has not been a good year.
Graham Potter was recruited by the owners after Thomas Tuchel was fired in September, but he was fired seven months later.
Although Frank Lampard has since been appointed as the club's interim manager, a new strategy is urgently needed after this season's spending barrage. Pochettino's arrival may thus be ideal for Chelsea, especially because Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann are apparently not candidates for the position.
Mauricio Pochettino didn't always win games against the top teams when coaching Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham, and PSG.
Except for PSG, neither of his clubs had ever before won a trophy or had a squad of leaders, so it is something to keep in mind. The 1-2 away win for Espanyol over Pep Guardiola's Barcelona in 2009 was one of the earliest examples of Pochettino's tactical brilliance.
Even though he was never able to defeat a top side with Southampton, the performances were positive. Pochettino's record did, however, significantly improve when he was Tottenham's manager, as it should have.
Spurs managed to win four times and tie twice in their ten league encounters with Arsenal. versus Chelsea, he had an identical record, and in 10 games versus Manchester United, he had four triumphs. Despite his team's poor performances against Man City and Liverpool in the 2018–19 season, he outwitted Guardiola in the UCL over two legs.
However, Pochettino's strategies are very diligent and sound. He possesses the capacity to enhance the effectiveness of his full-backs while allowing the defence some leeway. Similar to this, he can train dependable and effective attacking results, while his midfield can be both creative and effective.
He can adapt to the team rather than recruit players who fit his preferred style of play since he is a man who is motivated by ideas rather than methods. It is exactly what Chelsea need right now, because it is unlikely that they will spend extravagant amounts of money this summer.
In addition, as was previously noted, the Blues' team has a lot of potential, which the Argentine manager may utilize.Chelsea supporters have many reasons to be thrilled about Pochettino's hiring, especially given the impending necessity to return to the fundamentals. Pochettino is the favourite for the position. The trophy-winning years may not be far off once it is accomplished.
A pragmatic manager who has helped many youngsters
Mauricio Pochettino will be remembered fondly by Tottenham Hotspur, and one of the main factors in that is his capacity to foster the growth of young players.
Under the Argentine's guidance, the trio of Dele Alli, Heung Min-Son, and Harry Kane flourished, with all three players rising to the weel. Additionally, Kieran Trippier developed into a top-tier right-back and seamlessly took the place of the departing Kyle Walker, who for a while seemed irreplaceable for the Spurs. He is therefore adept at working with young players, which is perhaps a major reason Chelsea chose to hire him.
The Blues have made significant investments over the past 10 months, adding 15 players to the roster, 11 of whom are under 25. Additionally in that age range are Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Armando Broja, Lewis Hall, Reece James, Conor Gallagher, and Trevoh Chalobah.
In addition, a number of other loanees, such as teenagers Levi Colwill and Ian Maatsen, have stood out and have every reason to be eager to compete for a berth in the team next season.
Therefore, even though there will be significant sales this summer, there is a lot of young ability to be nurtured. Pochettino allegedly wants the Blues to concentrate on homegrown players, which is good news for a team looking to develop a youthful, competitive team capable of winning trophies.
Mason Mount may agree to a new contract as a result of his appointment because Pochettino is allegedly an admirer of the player.
